Was out practicing (Yup, finally did it!) yesterday and blew the covering off the stab!! Sure wish I knew where the heck I put the replacement covering that came with the Sukhoi arf!! Just discovered that NKHobbies is just 1.8 miles from my new job. Hope they have the ultrakote I need at lunchtime!~ Guess what! I'm now using a higher rate for my spin and roller, and they've both improved as a result. Just have to remember to turn off the switch for the other manuevers!! See yall tomorrow!! Seth, don't you have something you need to do this saturday besides fly?

Flew the free plane four times today. Second flight I did a tail slide as I watched the prop stop. Ruh Roh! Luckily I was up a decent height, came straight down off the end of the runway, slipped her a bit and sat her down easily right next to me. Come to find out my motor had come loose! Fixed that, did some more playing with the CG and went to check the batts and the dowel in the front of the Canopy broke off! Fixing that as I speak (or type I guess). Hopefully I can get at least one or two practice flights on my freestyle . . . We'll see!

See ya guys tomorrow!

Jamie,

The only word Mark and I have had is....
Matthew Laine and someone else (not sure who) mid-aired and Matthews plane is toast.
And like I said...that is ALL we have heard.
Will post if we hear more.

Matthew and a boy named Adam mid-aired. Adam was flying a 50cc QQ Yak and lost it immediately. Matthew lost a wing panel and actually flew it all the way back to the runway Hempel style, but when it touched the ground, it just shattered . . .

Really sad to see both go in, specially for Adam since it was his first IMAC ever, and he was doing really well in Basic.

thank you to Kurt and Mike and the WMAA members for puting on an awsome event - as usuall!

if it werent for the misshaps I would say that this was a fantastic event. Matthew Laine almost made the save of a lifetime. after the midair he had an unbeleivable presense of mind to keep up with the plane and fly it knife edge back towards the field. it was quite a sight and was very dramatic. however something caught upon touching the ground and it just pulled apart the airframe. it was a valiant effort though and I dont think that the engine or electronics were tore up because of it, so it wasn't a total loss, what a bummer for both pilots however and my heart goes out to both of them for loosing thier airplanes.

I tried to give real time updates to this thread from the field, but I need to go back to Blackberry 101 sorry.

I have a TON of pictures - all taken with my BB phone, so get ready..
