Default Lums Pond IMAC June 7/8 INFO

Hey guys,

Sorry to create another thread but I didnt want the info to get lost among everything else.

I wanted to provide some details and places to stay as it's getting closer.

Date: June 7/8th (Field will be open on Friday for Flying)
Pilots Meeting: 9:30 am Sat.
Flying open at 8:30

Hotels:

Embassy Suites Newark - Wilmington/South
654 South College Avenue, Newark, Delaware, United States 19713
Tel: 1-302-368-8000 Fax: 1-302-368-8975

Sleep Inn
630 S. College Ave. , Newark, DE, US, 19713 | Phone: (302) 453-1700

Howard Johnson Inn & Suites & Conference Center
1119 S College Ave/I-95
I-95 & Rte 896
Newark, DE, 19713 US
Phone: 302-368-8521

Since we are in a State Park my hands have been tied on a couple issues. Early on there was some request for camping on site... the permit has been filed but I learned tonight the state charges $17 for that per night. No tents are allowed, they must be self contained campers and no electric or water is available. The lums Pond Campground is 1.5 miles up the road so you can go there if you like.

Parking fees are still enforced. For out of State people this is $6/day. Unfortunately there is nothing I can do about that either.

Landing Fee:
$25 IMAC member
$30 non IMAC

We will be providing meals both days at no extra cost to help offset the cost of parking.

I have also had some donations provided for drawings and a raffle.

Normally we are not allowed to fly glow/gas after 6pm on Fridays and Sats. I have had that lifted for the weekend so you can fly late both nights.

The grass will be cut Friday morning and I will be taking the day off to get setup and meet everyone who comes to fly early.

The gate will be locked both nights and will be reopened hopefully by 7:30. If you arrive early please remember you won't be able to get in before 7:30am.

Directions:

The easiest thing is to mapquest Lums Pond State Park... it will bring you I95 to 896.

Once on 896 you want to pass route 40, and continue past the main park enterance 1 set of lights and you will see route 71.
Turn left on route 71 and the field enterance is about 1 mile on the left (yellow gate)

If anyone has any questions let me know...

See you there!

Hey guys.. weather is looking good so far... If anyone wants to keep track the zip is 19701.

Also a general reminder to bring your freestyle music! Most people there haven't seen freestyle in person or at all.. so would be great to put on a little show

See yas there!

Howard Johnson's is closer by maybe 1/4 mile.. they are all really close to eachother.

Just to be clear College Ave is 896 as well. So the field is a straight shot down 896 a left on 71 and 1 mile on the left.

From the hotels you could be at the field I would say within 10 mins.

We are at the Quality Inn i think. HoJo only had smoking rooms available. Pull it up on Orbitz Trent.

Jake,

I'll be there sometime around 3:00pm Friday, I'm leaving work around noonish, maybe a bit earlier if you need any last minute help.

Just one quick question. Can we leave trailers at the field both Friday and Saturday. I'm driving back home both nights and it would be nice to leave the trailer there to save a bit of gas.

There is a few hanging out Just have to go sit somewhere on main street

Yes you can leave trailers there overnight. I will be making sure I am the last to leave and locking the gate behind me. I expect to be there by 7-7:30 each morning to let people in. We can't fly till 8:30 Sat morning anyhow so might as well sleep in.

I took Friday off.. I will be doing some setup and some trimming on my plane to try and get ready for Farview.
