So Tomorrow morning I'm shifting out of home and driving 5 hours to my home for the next 2 years, an apartment in Invercargill, New Zealand. I'm planning to take my Fliton Edge for field flying and a Micro Heli for annoying the flatmates, but I am curious if there is anyone out there that builds/maintains models away from home or in student accommodation or on holiday etc? I've packed a Phx 10, brushless motor and some micro servo's along with some carbon, so I might be able to knock out a foamie while away if I can find suitable materials, these include a flat surface for building on and something to cut on. Maybe if I could find enough wood to build a building table of sorts with a little lip around it, so I can shift it around my small room without stuff dropping off? Share your experiences. Sarge. |

I flew throughout college while living in a closet sized room. I stored airframes on top of the 2 cabinets in the room. I managed to keep a hand launch glider and a 1/2A powered GLH in my room. A very small starter box kept everything going.... Then later when I got married, my wife and I lived in a 500+ sq ft apartment. Again, I never built anything larger than a .25 size bird because of space constraints. I built on the kitchen table. Covered it with the glass door from the stereo case while building and would reassemble the case when I was done.... Small is no problem. Just makes you appreciate what you have with you even more. Suggestion for storage space? Walk into a closet, turn 180degrees and look up above the door. No one ever does anything with that space! Its perfect for storing wings, etc. I built a small wing rack and stored glider fuses and wings in it. Lots will fit in that little space and no one ever bothers it......

I live in a one bedroom apartment with a wife and 2 kids. I have a 35% panzl, 33% ultimate, 60 size extra, a glider and soon a nexstar trainer for my daughter. Granted its a decent size apartment but still crowded with people. It's all in space management. Smokey |

When I was in the Army I lived in my tiny barracks room. At that time I had several large planes. They took up a good bit of room; I have some pictures floating around somewhere. Now I have my own townhouse which is huge for just me and the planes all stay at my warehouse.

Most the planes are hanging horizontally on the wall. I used large adjustable wall shelf brackets. I have one plane on top of another. Did that make sense? Smokey

I have a funtana 90, cap 232, giles, trainer, hole wall of electrics and extra 260 27%, I dont care if I have little space the thing is that my airplanes should be comfortable lol. the things you can do for your planes is incredible... |

I'm still living at home....b/c im still "studying" and I have a H9 27% Extra comfortably in my small bedroom and will make room for the H9 35% Extra 260 I just bought as well. I have double-wide doors in my room b/c it used to be an office.......the planes will both go down the stairs and out the front door to the truck. I cant wait to see how they look side by side on the floor next to my bed ! So if a bedroom can hold the planes....an apartment would be like a small hangar !
