Default Gas Can Help...

I was at the field awhile ago and noticed a gas can this guy was using. It looked like a 2.5 can but it had a hand pump on top. He pumped it 4 -6 times to pressurize the can, opened a valve to fuel his 40% and never touched it again until it was done.

My question is where can i find a setup like this? I just made the switch to gas and need a new fuel set up and do not want electric or the little hand crank pump.

Any ideas?

Was it one of these? There are a few brands out there that have a pump. This one is the by far the safest and in my opinion the best. We have quite a few of them at our Imac meets. Not the cheapest but we don't mess around with large gas airplanes because they are a cost-effective way to fly models.

I'm like you. I have no desire to be around an electric pump near a gas can. Specially on a hot day. Same reason I don't like to pull into a gas station next to someone smoking a cigarette. While I've never seen an electric pump gas can or a gas station go up, I'd like to keep it that way.

I changed over to the Fastfueler after my forearm almost went into convulsions one spring. I handcranked 50oz tank dry, then decide......nah, let's fly somemore and cranked in 50oz back in (close to three hundred cranks for what it's worth). Plus I have seen plastic fuel jugs sit in the hot sun for a few minutes and swell to an unnerving size.

Hope this helps. Have fun with your new gasser.

..........Mark

Same sort of pump but it was mounted on a plastic can.

$350.00 is a bit steep for me but if money where no object, that would be sweet.

Any others?

Thanks in advance

If it was a plastic can it could have been a Jersey Modeler.

Default Re: Gas Can Help...

I have been doing this for the past 10 years!!!

Go to any sporting good store/Wal-mart and buy a basketball pump, handheld.
Buy the fuel fitting kit from your LHS.
Buy a 2.5 gal fuel can, plastic variety.

Put the fuel fit kit in the side of the tank, but close enough to the mouth you can get fuel tubing attached. Add a clunk or fuel filter and place inside the can. Add 3ft of fuel tubing to the outside nipple and a couple inch piece to the other nipple. Keep a short piece of nyrod to connect the 2 pieces when not fueling.

The handheld basketball pump should come with a seperate adapter that fule line can be squeezed over. Make this piece of fuel tubing 6 inches long or so, with a straight nipple at the end to fit to the gas tank.

Plug the fuel line to the plane with whatever fuel dot etc, attach the pump, pump up the tank and walk away. You can actually put your plane together while it is fueling. you may need to pump the tank a few more times.

Less than $20, simple and if you forget the pump or have problems, you can still gravity fill your plane by using a chair if needs be. so there is a back-up also.
