| Uber Contributer ![]() | Hi I started in this hobby in august. When we are at the feild alot of people seem to be sponsored by company. I was wondering how you would go by getting sponsors. I know that if you do Imac you can get sponsored. But I know there are people out there that dont fly Imac and have sponsors. I was just wondering how they do it. Plus are there diffrent type of sponsorships. Like semi and full sponsorships.

| Uncle Jemima To the Rescue! ![]() ![]() | Act as an ambassador for the hobby and sponsors will come to you. Positive, upbeat attitude type of person that goes out of their way to help others goes a long way. Flying is important, but there is another side that is equally important.

| GRAVITY SUCKS ![]() | hey topflight what club do you fly with? dunnellon?? i dont know how to answere this question. i have been asking the very same question for over 20 years. i think iam very positive and i have spent as many days helping others without flying as i have gotten to fly.i have been on the cover of a mag (ircha) i used to know most of the big guys. but to this date i have never been sponsored. i think you either have to be very good and someone sees you flying or you have to know the right people. i was however sponsored 1 flying season by a hobby shop but, i still paid cost for the goods i had to have. never got anything for free. take that back, i did get last years hotel room for free flying at top gun half time show. (i wont do that again) anyway if you have enough money to go and fly at the big events then you get to meet the big dogs. then you get to know them by name that helps alot. remember out of sight out of mind.

| JTEC RADIOWAVE ![]() | I completely agree with what Tank said. Sponsors will come to you when the time is right. In my experience most of the time you sponsor come from companies that you already deal with and have a good knowledge of there product. But remember getting sponsored isnt everything, this is your hobby and you choose it for a reason. Oh yeah the other thing is just because you are sponsored doesnt mean you get stuff for free.

| Uber Contributer ![]() | Rede2fly I fly out of Bay City Flyers in Lakeland. Its a really nice club you should come over and fly it some time. Sleepy I will send you that money order right away. It should be there is a few weeks lol. I hope monopoly money is ok since I spend all my money on buying bigger planes. I guess I will just have to keep buying my own stuff and one day maybe get a sponsor by luck or something.

| Bad-ass Super Contributer! ![]() | Sponsorship is an interesting deal. I have a few although I am not one of the best pilots you'll find. Most have come to me as a result of willingness to try new stuff, along with the ability to give feedback on a regular basis (in a respectful informative way). One thing sponsors HATE is sending a guy free stuff and never hearing anything back. I do quite a bit along the lines of helping people who are new to the hobby or expierenced pilots who need a little help with something they are not so familiar with. Always be willing to help out when you can. As Biff mentioned the other day, it is a BAD BAD BAD idea to get into "Brand Bashing", always be positive and repectful to those who choose other products than you do. Last but not least, get out and fly at as many events as you have time for. Each year I fly a two or three full scale shows, about 5 "Fly-Ins", and about 3 IMAC contest. Get out to the events and learn who the people are and let them know who your are. Most of all, HAVE FUN. This is just a "For What It's Worth", results may not be the same for everyone, be sure to consult your doctor to see if sponsorship is right for you, sponsorship while not a contraceptive is very effective at preventing pregnancy. If you expierience itching, rashes, or strange hair growth please consult MadMax for the remedy he uses ![]() David Fox
