Composites are just the right thing to do, for you, your family, and dare I say it, the country.

And don't get me started on electric versus gas power!!!

So, be a true patriot and fly an electric composite plane. If you don't then you are against the environment and for the terrorists!!!
JUDGE . .do you ACTUALLY believe what you just typed?????

PLEASE tell me you didn't think I was actually concerned. . ..

Being from California. . ANYTHING is possible. .

I mean, he actualy believes composites are better than wood, who knows how much farther his insanity will reach???

Remember. .this IS a death match. I'm still waiting for Bill to come up with a decently cogent argument that is not already full of holes before it is typed.

ONLY in California can someone think that a composite airframe that is made up of HARSH chemicals and bonding agents is more environmentally conscious than a Farmed Balsa tree.

If Al Gore flew IMAC, perhaps he would Pit for The JUDGE!

Okay, since Bill can;t come up with anything to say. .

Reasons Composite Airframes are BAD:

1) They are TOO stiff, and transmit every little niggle, vibration, and flight load straight into your precious electronic receivers and servos.

2) They are veryhard to repair in case of a mishap or accident

3) They are very expensive, and give you no flight performance advantage

4) Unless suitably braced, they may fail under high G twisting loads on the fuselage

5) Replacement parts are VERY expensive.

Reasons Composite Airframes are GOOD:

1) They have much cooler color schemes

2) Everyone THINKS they fly better

3) You are an instant hero at the local flying field if you show up with one

Reasons Wooden airframes are BAD:

1) They use wood, which means you have to kill trees. . .

2) The covering can lift under certain weather or heat conditions and needs to be looked after

3) They are not unique, 99% of modelers fly wooden planes.

4) The color schemes are more basic, and it's tough to do airbrush work on covering that may lift up or change shape.

Reasons Wooden airframes are GOOD:

1) They use wood, which means you have to kill trees

2) Most non basket case damage can be repaired with Ca and ore wood

3) EVERYONE flies them, so almost anyone can help you build one.

4) They cost a lot less than a composite plane

5) They are "softer" so your electronics does not take as much of a beating

6) Properly designed and built wooden planes WIN every major competition in the US, including the TOC, Tucson, JR CHallenge, NATS, and many regional competitions.

7) if you buy a kit, it's easy to Bash it while building it.

Any questions???

So now we have stooped to questioning my patriotism??

I find that unacceptable. Either you are with me, or you are against me, and since I am taking the truly patriotic position, if you are not with me then you must hate America.

There really is nothing more I can say. So go ahead and try to think up reasons to keep killing trees just so you can justify destroying the Earth in the name of your hobby. Personally, I will be doing what I can to keep us from drowning in the rising oceans and losing our flying fields in the bargain.

BTW - I am not "from" California. I am an AMERICAN. I was born in New Jersey, one of the original 13 colonies and I was raised in Arizona. I just happen to live in Kali-forn-e-uh now.
