Well, just put the plane into a regular inverted flat spin and keep adding power until it starts climbing (gaining altitude). Not all planes will do this. I'm not an aeronautical engineer, but it seems you need a plane that is light, extreme elevator throws, and lot's of power. I had an OMP Yak that could do it easily.

You can also just harrier around inverted and then begin to make smaller and smaller circles untill you get the desired effect, this may be an easier way to enter if you are having trouble.

You have to feel your way through it with the airframe you have. Like Karl was saying, not every plane can. I usually find some counter aileron throw and add power. The flat spin will get flatter until it either starts to climb or it powers out of it. If it can power out, note how it exits. You may need to ease off an input to get the result you want. If you get to know a plane really well you can occasionally pull off a situation where you are holding position, not climbing or falling. Cool when you can nail that down low.

a great plane for this manuver is a mojo they do this very well. it seems that most profiles will do this. i have never seen a regular plane do this. only profiles. not saying that they cant. just saying i have never seen it done but to answere your question its really easy to do. bring it almost to a stall. add full rudder and full elevator and full power. adjust the ailerons to keep the wings level and watch it happen. the elevator may not allways have to be full. depends on how big and the servo tork. my mojo 40 would do this with a saito 72

I read that but have to say I remember seeing Sean McMurty and Jason Shulman doing the inverted climb at the TOC before the dates mentioned in the write up. | ||||||||||||||||||

I was able to do this with my .40 size UcanDO (powered by a Saito .91). It's really slick to see once you get it down. Mine would climb very slowly, so I had to be careful, but it was really fun to do. Just nail the throttle and a bit of opposite aileron. - Wayne |
