Jarret's (UltimateJay) QQ Yak video?

Hi everyone,

Back when the Cirkus was around, I remember UltimateJay had an awesome video clip of his 102 in. QQ Yak. I checked to see if I could find it anywhere, but I came up with nothing. Anyone know if that video is still out there? I would love to see that again.

Brandon, glad you like my vid. It is in the video gallery, under 3d clips and on page 5. There is no picture, the vid is named, " Jarrett". Ken adams just finished another vid of me from today at the Camp pendlton site and it turned out great. I will post it here too.

Great video again! Glad to hear that I have a good plane. I will be running a DA 100 with Std. mufflers that I have for it too. I am going with the stock hardware, it looks pretty good quality.

For Equipment, all 8611A's except the throttle, maybe one Matchbox per aileron if I need to, but I think I might be able to get away without any, but I don't know how you wound set up something without Matchboxes though.

I already have a Duralite 2800, so I'm thinking I will go with two 2800's on the servos, and a 2 cell 2000 Duralite on the ignition, but I could put the 2800 on ignition and use two 4000's on the servos. What do you guys think?

I saw you fly the Yak at El Toro some time ago and this video is even better than in person!

What brand and size prop do you use? It sure is quiet for stock exhaust! Also, did you use any type of baffles?

Brandon, I am using Fromeco batteries. I tried to make this plane as light as possible so I am only using one 2800 mah battery for ignition and one 4400 mah for servo's. I am only running one reciever and all 8611's. 2 per aileron with a matchbox for each wing panel, one for each elevator, and two for the rudder, with a matchbox. I am using a 811 for throttle. I have close to 100 flights with no issues. It would be better to run a reduntant battery system for the servo's, like two 2800 mah to the reciever. I will probably end up doing this soon, but like I said , I wanted it light and light it is. I will weight it soon, but I am guessing 25lbs. It's like flying a huge foamy!

Stork, the prop that I have been using and really like is the NX 27-10. I have heard from QQ and from a friend of mine that the 26-12 is the ticket. I am going to try one of these next, probably a Menz 26-12 and I'll let you know, but you can't go wrong with the NX 27-10. There are two reason's why my plane is so quiet. The main reason is that the plane is so light, I rarely fly over half throttle. Even on up lines I only use 3/4 throttle. The other reason, is that at the time you saw me fly I had my spinner backplate only 1/8" from the front of the cowl. What happens is that if the prop is too close to the cowl, on Yaks, the propwash somehow deflectsoff the large round cowl and wastes power. That's why when you see full scale Yaks, the prop is so far out in front of the cowl. With my plane being so light, I really didn't notice any power problems because I had so much to spare. QQ recommends at least 1/2" clearance and I think on his big 37% he has over 2". I have since moved my engine another 1/2" forward and have noticed more power and it now ripps the 27-10 on full throttle passes. Like this plane needs any more power! But it does improve propwash over the flight surfaces when hovering and torque rolling. Hope this helps.

Thanks Jarrett, really helpful info. I think I will run 2 2800 packs for servos like you said.(should be enough for a day or two of flying before recharging I think)
I am wondering whether I should go with a 2000 li-ion or with another 2800 for the ignition?

I will also be running 8611a's all around, but I don't know what length of the servo arms to get. I'm thinking 1.25's? (For precision and 3D) I'm just getting a list of everything I need for this thing so I can get it all from one place. (Probably Chief Aircraft)

Any input would be great!
