Default Carden 40% measurement for transport

Can anyone tell me the measurement of the rudder on a carden 40% 330. I would like to know if this will fit inside a 2007 Yukon XL truck which I will be using to transport my plane. I previously own a 2004 Yukon XL which I traded for a 07 and I know that a 40% carden 330 will barely fit inside the 04 model. I since then sold my Carden 40% 330 prior to finishing it.

The reason I want to know the rudder height is because of the center console (between driver and passenser) and Entertainment system only has limited opening for the rudder to fit. If this will not work, I will have to go for a 35% this time.

BTW- it's good to be back into giant aerobatic community. it's been 3 years since I went to helicopters and now I want to get back into giants scale. I had to sell my unfinished 40% Carden, I didn't think I would not have any time to finish due to the arrival of my daughter and a new job (travel). I now can find time to fly and maybe do another carden 40% built.

Harold.

Harold,

You are looking at about 25.25" from top to bottom- this is without the tailwheel so you'd need to add that in as well.

Harold, Glad to see ya back in the giant scale and the measurment on my Carden 330 is 24" on the Rudder or 28 1/2" from the floor if the tail wheel needs to be considered. Good Luck ,Tony

Thanks for the help guys.

SUPERFLYJAY- I will not be able to corner caddy it with the 07 Yukon because the seat does not fold flush with the floor. My older 04 yukon xl had captains chairs which folds down and it's hidden under floor board. the newer model will have the seat fold in half which leaves me just room above the seats and partial of the center console.

I put a 40% Carden Extra in my '00 Explorer 4 dr. Wasn't my plane, but my friend wanted to FLY!!!!! It fit right between the front seats, and the rudder was 3" from the dash board, and the tip of the spinner and 3 blade prop was was less than 2" from the rear glass.

If I can fit a 40% in a Explorer, then you should be able to fit it in your '07 Yukon............

Bunky F. Knuckle- on a Explorer? Wow! that's a really tight fit! LOL. I will have to remeasure and make sure it really does fit my truck. Thanks for for the info, I'm now leaning towards the 40%.

I got you all beat! With the spinner off, I can stuff my 40% Edge into a Dodge Magnum. It's just a tiny bit smaller interior-wise than my Durango.

I transported my 40% 330 for two years in my explorer but it would not fit in my dad's tahoe due to the seat folding up, so the height was the issue not the lenght.
BTW the side view mirror is useless with the rudder blocking it, I've since bought a trailer

as722- that's right, the lenght is not the issue but the height. Especially when there is the entertainment monitor mounted on the ceiling.

I've made up my decision and I will go with a 40%. If someone can fit a 40% on a small vehicle, I sure will have to make it work for a Yukon XL. Thanks for all the input guys. Now the only decision to make now is what Carden to pick. Any suggestions?
