I always liked Monowings. I guess because they are simpler.

I like the way bipes, python and ultimate look in the air. they have a lot more presence than mono planes. in terms of flying, i've found my extras to be more precise than the ultimates i've flown. I had a Dave Patrick Ultimate 120 and that was a tumbling monster. i say have at least 1 of each. |

I'd rather have a Bipe, but until I have a servant to put my planes together and take them apart for me at the field, I'll be flying mono wings. Last bipe I had was a 50cc Ultimate, great flying plane, but the 20 minutes to get it together and then another 20 to take it apart really killed my flying time.

While I find high performance monoplanes sexy and sleek like a modern catwalk supermodel (plastic and silicone), I find biplanes to be like Marilyn Monroe...perhaps the word voluptuous might apply. Ever filled with character and personality, biplanes are a neverending crowd pleaser and just plain look great. That said, although I think F3A styled and derived biplanes fly hot and cool, they do not have the same beautiful preportions of biplane models scaled or styled from the Pitts or Ultimates. It comes down to those wings which work fantastically but resemble an aesthetic afterthought as if the designer thought suddenly 'Oh my, I have to add wings to this beautiful fuselage'. Of course, that's F3A. If a brick could fly precisely and snap like CAP232, then we'd all see $3000.00 carbon fiber/composite bricks at the competitions drawing lines through the sky. After all, it's not a beauty contest if T-top canalizers start gracing the tops of all of these fancy tools. I guess that sums it for my opinions. I guess I should add that of 15 airplanes, I'm one third bipes. If only there were not so many screws to thread for field assembly. |

I like them both. I have had the DP Ultimate and many differnet types of fun fly bipes. I have a BME-111 Bob Godfrey Ultimate that I have had about 4 years. When ever I show up at the field with it everyone lands just to watch the bipe fly in the air all by itself. Yeah it has smoke and plenty of power. I did find out the hard way the last time I took it to the field without any other planes and had a loose wire show up after I had put it together flying wires and all how much time was spent for nothing since I did not get to fly. Then came the good part of taking it back apart so soon. I think since up to this point when you go flying you don't see a lot of bipes it just makes its worth at least checking it out. With 4 ailerons on those birds you can really have some super rolls. Every ultimate I have had has been very strong on its side unlike some planes that were 3d ready like an Edge or two that did not seem strong on its side. T-rolls seem pretty fast to me on the bipes. I know with setting my ultimate ailerons up I did the add or sub of the horns on the wings 8/32 bolts to ensure all ailerons throws are the same all around. Other than that the set-up seem to go pretty quick with all else. Seems a lot of the newer kits do not have the flying wires like the yester year kits. I like/love an Ultimate so that is my vote.

Imagine having to sheet 2 wings and cut out 4 ailerons...
