I have never been much of a fan of bipes. I just prefer the sleeker and "cleaner" looks of the mono's. Not to mention less work to assemble, less work to build (most of my models are self designed scratch builts) and less work overall. ![]() On another note, I really liked the looks of the new Turbine Toucan, however I still prefer mono's over bipes.

Personally, I love ANYTHING that flies. I have an Ultimate, am considering a Skybolt, just sold an Ultimate to get a bigger Ultimate, and am also thinking about buying a 1.60 Ultimate, and probably buying a 1/3 scale Pitts. Yeah, I like biplanes. That being said, I've bought and sold about 40 planes this year, and only 3 were not monoplanes... heh. But in my eyes, there's not much that is more beautiful than an Ultimate or Pitts on a vertical line doing consecutive rolls, or snapping hard into a blender...sure it's cool with a monoplane, but a biplane just has that "OH SNAP" factor!

IMHO, Chip does as well as he does INSPITE of the Biplane.. not because of it!! I had an AW 42% Ultimate and now I have a Compy SX... I can not list one single thing the Ulti does better then the SX....if anything at all.. it would be upright harriers... The Ulti had KE issues that were frustrating. (I know... Chip thinks I am nuts for flying the SX and liking it! Maybe we would both be happy with a ZN-Line Extra!??!?! ) |

well I am a bipe man first(have also many mono's) - but yes they have their own issues - but they remain impressive in the way they do things and its about presence more than anything else - now i have been flying my H9 46% ulti for years and its the invited plane at all our air shows because of presence. now i have had several Chip DV's and still have one - this little 50cc plane is my best fun plane ever and it can do the hardest 3d ever and can take a full engine forward tumble that is so violant that no other plane would survive also a full throttle KE spin that is blistering fast and very impressive - now its not great inverted but for the last version with the flairs on the wings - so in conclusion bipes remain impressive even if they cant do many things - they are show planes for sure

This has become a bipe lovers thread. They will continue to come out to show support for these planes.Though I am a bipe lover, I beleive you will not get a true poll result from this thread. I think the bipe community is a smaller one. Kind of like the millions of car drivers out there vs. the mustang or corvette enthusiast clubs. Only the enthusiasts ( No matter what brand) will take the time to show their loyalty and vote. The bazillion other car drivers out there could give a rats a#$%. MY VOTE .......... BIPLANE |

I prefer a mono for ease of set up and the "feel" of the sticks. You can definitely tell the difference in flying. I have the PAU 38% Ultimate which flys well but with the wires it's a pain to set up and dismantle.
