Default Eye safety - watch out!

Hi guys,

Speaking of safety, 3 different friends of mine have almost lost their eyes in the past week while working on their planes at home. I can't believe it, what are the chances. That said there must be a lot of guys with similar stories.

All of them have turned their heads sideways into a stationary prop when working next to the fuselage. All received gashes within 1/4in of their eyes! One even temporarily pushed the skin on his upper eyelid back into the socket a little as the prop slipped in between the side of his head and his glasses! He promptly taped foam to the tips of his prop while working on it! He had also been warned 2 hrs before by his buddy who just did the same thing!

Watch out guys!

When I was a kid.... CA had just come out. I was working with a bottle of thin and the tip got plugged.

I grabbed the bottle and chewed the glue off the end and in doing so, I released the glue. Since I was inadvertently squeezing the bottle at the time, I sprayed myself right between the eyes with glue. The glue deflected off my nose and into my eyes gluing them shut with my contacts in.......

That was a really interesting trip to the doctor that day......

Thats how CA was actually developed. For use in dressing field wounds in Vietnam war. My ice hockey team use CA all the time to close cuts. Works like a champ!
