FG's if you havent gotton a chance to go Louisville Kentucky Ya need to check out the EP Tom Sawyer Flying Club.. I think I got the name right?? Great bunch of guys - I had the pleasure of meeting Lee B and Tom Millet To make a long story - well as short as I can which may be long anyway... I took vacation for two weeks to visit my family in the Louisville area.. It just so happens that my younger brother lives about 30 mins from the EP Tom Sawyer field.. I had been talking to Tom Millet (who is also a member of club at EP Tom Sawyer). Tom talked me into getting a profile ( OMP 46 Katana)- so I sent all the flying gear ( 2 boxes of stuff) ahead to my brothers. Spent an all-nighter and had the airplane ready to go Sunday morning. Went to the field and realized I had everything but a 12 volt battery. Thanks to Lee B - he was there every day when I was for the next two weeks( Like magic really) he loaned me his hand starter to start my YS.63. So I struggled like an idiot for about an hour trying to start my engine on Sunday when I realized that I was turning the idle screw the wrong way Duhh! it helps to read the instructions. Later on in the week my older brother crunched a few wing ribs in his van... ugghh Thanks to Tom Millett who let me make the repairs in his shop just a few miles from the field....Tom very nice shop by the way!!! All in all damn good vacation - got to fly my Ars off as planned - FWIW the OMP is a good little plane for an ARF... builds quick and easy... The YS is more than enough to pull the guy out hover - One word of caution -- I let my little brother talk me into a high speed pass The YS will pull this like a bat on fire ... blew out a aileron control horn.. Highly recommend upgrading to metal control horns and clevises... A great big thanks to Tom Millet and Lee B and the Tom Sawyer crew - I had blast I hope to do this again ..... Ronster |

I second the good words for the Louisville club! I grew up in Louisville and started with the club back 31 years ago as a young kid. The Air Force took me away and now I live in Dayton OH. I still go back down to visit family and friends and my son and I always try to take some planes and go fly there. The club is like a big family and extremely helpful at what ever your challenges are! |
