hey guys i am looking at composite planes which one is better DrHobbies extra 330 or airwild extra 330.i really like the airwild plane but does it fly 3d good and will it be good with either 3w-106 or kroma100.

they both look good and either motor should be great. Isn't the DR the same thing as comp-arf??

Isnt the Airwild slightly larger? I thought I read somewhere the span was 106"... but I could be wrong, they may in fact be the same as the comp-arf and the DR, which are both made in the same factory. I own a comp-arf 2.6m but really like that the DR has a wing tube, and not the floating spar like my 2.6m has.

I flew Mat Szueber's Airwild 330. I think if you really want to see it fly 3D or IMAC, come out to Riverside and see Mat or Jeff fly it. Nice plane!!! Flys awsome!!!!!!

I think the thing is...... ALOT of 35%'s fly good, so someone who flew just that plane will be biased, to get a true opion you need to fly both, But that doesn't keep ANYONE from saying that the plane is awsome. Truth is, if it's a 35% it's probally gonna fly good, unless it's complete garbage, which then we will let ya know.

I have flown my 35% AirWild Edge twice. It flies good and will do alot more than I am capable of. There was a video of it on the AirWild website. I have heard bad things about it but seems ok to me. I know of one that is on it's third or fourth owner and they absolutely love this plane whereas the first owners didn't. I got my as one of the 2nd's for $700 which are still availble and that to me was too good of a deal to pass up. My only issues with it are that it may be a bit heavy. I used 5955 servos, 1 each aileron and rudder, and 5945 for the elevators. I also use 3 7.4V Lipos, for Ignition and 2 For Reveiver with regulators, I have a DA-100, and kept everything bare and light as possible. I did install a smoke system which added weight too. My first flight the plane was balanced at the front of the recommended CG and it flew so tail heavy I almost harrier landed it. The next flight everything including the smoke system is pushed as far forward to the front firewall and ziptied. I also added 2 Oz Lead to the nose and 2 Oz to the Left wing panel to help the balance. It flew so much better. The final dry weight was about 29 pounds. I have been flying the DA with a 27x10 and will switch to a 28x10 to see if it pulls it better. Other than the balance issue I have been very happy so far. There aren't many of these out there so it is still new and unique to me. |

With that being said, if I ever ball this one up, I may try the DR or Composite Arf. I have heard very positive feedback from them and I really like composites. It will also depend on what is more cost effective for me at the time.
