Shaun man, you got to know that the only reason I have shunned you is that I allow myself to be bitten by only one bug at a time. LOL Damn you! I have to remain strong. Get that sucker put together. Name the day and we'll put her up |

Highlights man, See the problem is I have to look out for you as a friend first and flying bud second. I know your love for the bling and this thing is about as blinged out as it gets thanks to Flyingrzrback If I were to bring you for the maiden, you would see that monocote and stickers do not compare to carbon and custom paint work. The heli guys know how to tune.... Subsequently, you would want one and would buy one. Due to the above you HAVE to be excluded...muhahaha so that Jodi doens't blame me. You are already in trouble for ordering that yellow, scale circle flyer on floats.

You hit the nail on the head. Teach it to be a plank. I got bit this July, and now I am building a 90 size scale ship.. First a TRex 450SE , then a Raptor50v2 , now R90 and MD500 fuse. I fly them (teach them ) to be planks....no flippy flippy, wiggy wiggy stuff.... Now I want a gasser, and I can't believe the Heli guys turning up thier noses at an ignition kill on a gasser Heli....I am being flamed for asking. They must be nuts.. Two completely different mind sets for sure. Screw it, I am putting an ignition kill (opti-kill) on my gasser scaler, I hate chicken dances...except at weddings , they are fun. |

Thanks guys, Ya the T-Rex is sick. I figure why spend money upgrading. This bird is stacked, ready to plank all day long. Looking forward to speed runs, large 'stall' turns (whatever they are called in shank land) and a couple loops/rolls. I'll post some pics when I get it together next weekend.

Chicken dances are one sure way of killing the heli.... what's the big deal with the kill switch? Accidentally switching it on? Not sure why anyone would care, just assign it to a switch that is not commonly used.

what packs are you guys running on your T-Rex's? Please post flight times for normal crusing (loops and rolls) and then for aggressive 3D. Please also state if you upgraded the motor / pinion as these obviously affect time.

Haveing a heli is not a bad thing I just won'd go that extreme. I'd sell it. Get another gasser then buy a smaller one. Like a Helimax CP. Perfect for the backyard.

I'd recommend the Air Thunder or Kong Power 6s 5000 packs. They are the same cells, just different distributors. The advantage they have over standard packs are that they can withstand deep discharges (down to 2v per cell) without damage. They are capable of 25c continuous, so they are more than powerful enough for the 600, plus the price is good, and if you crash and damage them, they'll replace the packs for 50% off. Can't beat that. The only disadvantage is they are about 3 oz heavier than a Thunder Power 6s 5000 pack, and slightly larger. I have 3 of the Thunder Power Extreme 6s packs, and 3 of the Air Thunder 6s, and I can't tell the difference in the air. For flight times, the guy I bought my 600 from was running the stock 600L motor on a small pinion (I think it was 11T), and was getting 7 minutes of hovering, forward flight loops and rolls. When I got it, I swapped to a 12t, which upped the power for 3d, and dropped me to 6 minutes. Now I'm running a Neu motor (the hottest 6s motor that money can buy), and getting 5:30 of 3d, but the power is worth it. I'm conservative with my packs so they'll last, and at the 5:30 mark, I generally put somewhere around 3500mah back into them. I've flown one of my Air Thunders down until the low voltage cut off happened, and was at the 7 minute mark of 3d with a few autos thrown in. That'd kill a Thunder Power or other normal pack, but the Air Thunder handled it fine. Something I forgot, make sure everything is very free in the drivetrain, it makes a huge difference in run time. Make sure the gear mesh isn't too tight, and the belt is relatively loose (or if you have the torque tube, don't worry about it!). When I bought mine the guy had it set with the belt tight and the mesh with no lash in it, and the packs were noticeably warmer before I set it right, and they took about 400mah more on the recharge from it. www.airthunder.com |

The Extra is sitting in my storage room without a motor. Last time I had it out one of the 8411s on the ailerons failed (that was a couple months ago), and it's sat since. At some point I sold the 3w I had on it, and now it's a decoration until next season when I'll put a new DA on it. Actually, now that I think about it, the Edge hasn't flown since the day before that happened either, I've been really busy and the weather has sucked when I haven't, so I've basically just been flying helis since October or so. I still love them, but like before, the Edge is just special to me, so it's my favorite.

Fly it like a plank. ![]() Here is a link video of my R50V2 flying like a plank Just look for Charles Harris under the nonsponsored demos http://www.runryder.com/helicopter/r...ryClassic2007/ I got the bug a little over a year ago and now i am hooked. I carry one with me just about every time I go fly and get one or two flights in. I enjoy flying it on those "It's really windy outside my plane might blow away while i am trying to put it together" days. Autos seem to hang forever when its windy. I think we should start some kind of support group for people with RC Addictions. I could just see it like at AA meeting. "My name is Charles and I am addicted to RC. I started with planks but it soon led to shanks. When my planks got so big I could only carry two in my trailer, I soon figured out that i could fit a few shanks in around them. Now they everywhere I have to be carefull not to trip over one at night." |
