Get a buddy to fly with. One that will keep you motivated. This had happened to a buddy of mine untill i started flying again. Now he is back in full swing building almost every nite and flying as often as possible

I'm half kind in the same boat as you. I don't have time to build or maybe it's the will to make time when i'm tired. I really don't like building and just want to fly. Maybe i'll find motivation soon.. maybe when the rest of the parts for my plane get here that i finished ordering over the past few days. CG |

i've been in and out of the hobby for 22 years now. 6 years on...2 off....4 years on...1 off.... kind of like that. Building planes is what keeps me into it. To watch your own monokote job come alive is quite rewarding. We are all different, but i'm convinced everyone has a secret way to get back into the swing of the hobby. Maybe you can try doing something new in the hobby. Like, if your a 3d flyer, try working on precision. If you typically build arf's, try doing a full build. Anything different from the norm tends to give a situation new life. And sometimes it takes some time off to build up the desire again....i've been out of the hobby before, and i'm sure i'll be out of it again. But it always comes back eventually.

Want to stay mainly with aerobats? Try one of these new mini built up ARF electric aerobats. There's the EF Extra, all the Fliton stuff and a whole lot more. Last edited by JeeUm; 03-09-2006 at 12:47 AM. | |||||||||||||||

You know what, I think it's safe to say that every now and again you just have to air yourself out a bit. It is easy to "O.D" on any thing you are really enthralled with. That includes your favorite pastime even some so dear as to be called your passion or life's calling. I once felt that I betrayed my passion for fishing . I felt that maybe I let rc planes get in the way. Forget about it. That is a part of me that will never go away. Sometimes in life however we need a new adventure to stir our minds. More often than not those are adventures that have been secretly brewing since we were young children. Everything has it's place in life. Maybe your new friends were waiting for your "time". Eventually you will find yourself right back doing what you once did. Don't force it. But at the same time don't let it fade. Keep it close by and one day it'll find it's way back to you. For now do what ever turns your crank. By next week you may be torkin on the deck wondering what all the fuss was about. If all else fails buy something BIG and SHINEY Mark |

What part of the country do you live in? If it's cold winter where you live right now that may be a major part of the problem. I know I am itching to fly right now. The weather has been real hit and miss lately. I love to build, but nothing gets me in the mood to build more, than a good day at the flying field with all of my bud's. The winters here in Michigan allow us to fly, but we do have times where we can't fly for a month or two. When that happens I start to go through withdrawls. The suggestions from others are all good too. I just don't want to repeat what others have already said. I wish you the best of luck. If the hobby is a true passion in your heart it will all work out. Good luck to you, Mike Darr |

Hey Rich, I've been going through the same thing. It's not the flying, for me, it seems to be the building. If I had my profile ready to fly, I'd slam it around the sky every night after work. I walk through the shop every night, look at it, go inside and grab a beer and head for the computer. The wife is gone for a few days, I'll hopefully get a bunch of stuff done before she gets back. I've got to get out of this rut and get some stuff built.

GEE ! I thought I was the only one ! In this hobby for 55 years "constently " But lately I have little interest. Avid scale builder and flyer but all of a sudden things got boring. Last year the YAK 54 caught my eye and was waiting for Cardens to come out and the next thing the whole world has YAK's ???? Going to Toledo hopefully I'll see something to light the old candle.( ok really old candle ) |

If you like competition at all try that. Any type, even combat, racing, whatever. I was in the same boat about 8 years ago, kind of bored. Then I started flying IMAC and that got me pumped again. I haven't flown many contests in the last few years but it got me rolling again. A flying buddy helps tremendouisly. Dan |

Hey guys, I think this hobby is sort of a therapy for most of us wether we know it or not. I personally release all the stress I'm carrying from my job and a very long drive that I go through everyday. I don't like building as much either because of lack of time but I would suggest if that's what's happening to you Rede2Fly, for sometime don't think about anything hobby related and don't even go to garage. Relax. After a week or two start fresh with a plan. See picking up things and leaving them undone would only make you frustrated. Relax a little bit because even this awesome hobby is sometimes frustrating. I'm going through frustration whenever I see a manufacturing defect that will make my work even more on these planes and steal my flying time! Keep us inform about how you feel in a week or two. We're always here to help out in anyway we can. Good Luck to you |

Building alhough rewarding can be like work. I think of it like this, would I enjoy building if I did it for a living...I don't think so. The finished work is what motivates me to build. If you really don't like to build or even finish ARF's, pay someone. As far as flying, pace yourself. Take time off in the winter. I see guys get in the hobby and go to the field every day. They are there in 30 degree weather with 20 MPH winds....dedicated. A year later they don't fly at all. When the weather is nice, I fly as much as possible and love it. If its cold or even really hot I do something else. Too much of anything will get boring. |
