Default A free Byrons P-51?? No way!!!

Well sorta no way..

I saw a listing on craig's list on Friday.. It simply said Free RC Airplanes.. 2 rooms full..
First come first serve.. Sunday 10am

I got the address and showed up at 9:50.. I was a foreclosure..

I got the be the fist down into the RC basement from hell.. the first room was about 10x20 and knee deep in boxes, and half built planes everywhere.. everything from P -47 fuesalages to 40 size biplane parts.. it was a mess! I knew the odds of finding anything complete were about zero..
I stepped back in room #2.. 10x10 and again knee deep in wood boxes, planes and god knows what else..

Not a servo, radio or engine in sight.. Someone had cleaned up and taken all the hardware.. All that was left was kits scattered everywhere.. half built, boxes busted open..

I moved a pile of planes and was shocked to find a Byron Originals box with the lid on..
I took a quick peak inside as other modelers swarmed around grabbing anything and everything.
It looks complete.. I couldn't believe it.. I rushed it off to the car and went back in..

I didn't take much else.. I filled a few boxes with balsa, grabbed a tube of unknown plans and called it a day.. I was just happy to have the Mustang..

So now I'm home and it's time to be disappointed.. I'm missing half the fuselage!!

Turns out Byron shipped the kit in 2 boxes.. the 2nd one wasn't there.. I would have noticed it..
the other box had the fuse from the TE forward and had the original Byro drive with Q42 already installed by the factory.. DOH!!! man this sucks!!!

So what did I get? lots of balsa sticks..

The tube has a full 4 sheet set of Jim Pepino plans for a 101" Lockheed Vega

The Byrons box has the rear half of the fuselage, both foam wings, flaps, ailerons, 2 rudders, horizontal stab, elevators, the metal inner and outer gear doors, full retract main gear kit with the 5.5" scale wheels, tailwheel kit, canopy, glass belly scoop, 2 full decal sheets for the AF scheme or Rockwell air racer scheme. all the plans, manuals and other hardware packs, original order receipt from 1981, 3 of the 4 props form the 4 blade byro-drive and oddly a retract tail wheel kit for the Byron P-47 kit.

Quite a hail but I'm still upset I didn't find the other box..

Does anyone reproduce the fuselage?

Funny how the word goes round..

The other box for my kit was sold on Ebay last month..
Serial numbers match what I have..
I managed to contact the buyer and he's selling me everything but the byro drive.
I'm good with that.. I was going to run a DL-50 anyway.

The Pepino 101" Vega plans are still available through Scale Plans and Photo Service.
