I maiden FlyFalcons planes for him...

i wouldnt think of having someone else maiden my plane. but i understand why other people do. its nice to have it trimed then handed over to you. a lot of fellows are really scared the first flight. i understand it. its no big deal

I have been flying for over 20 years, and this will be my 8th season of flying pattern. Once I soloed I always maidened my own airplanes except for expensive ones. If I had the chance Andrew Jesky would maiden my pattern planes for me. 1 1/2 years ago I got my first big gasser, a 40% Carden Cap 232. The weather was crappy every weekend that I tried to get the maiden done on. Finally I got a 1/2 way decent day and went for it. I maidened the plane myself, simply because there wasn't anybody else around that I trusted with that plane. I don't know what happened when I flew that plane but all of my fears went away. Now I will never have anybody maiden my planes again. Getting rid of the fear I had, has made me a lot better pilot too. I was holding myself back and did not even know it.

There is nothing like flying a big gasser. I have been told that many times over the years, but never really knew how true it really was. For me that was the plane that opened the door of advancement for me.

set throws
plug in servos
balance
figure out what to do wth these left over parts
But doing all that takes all the excitement out of the maiden. I mean, what fun is a maiden if you know for 100% sure that your throws are set right. A little doubt always makes it more exciting, and it might even make you say a little bit more.

I also like to shake the plane a bit on its first flight . I want to see how the plane rolls, loops , spins ,snaps ect so i would normally put it through some type of pattern .

To me I dont see it as a "maiden flight" as such its more like its first test flight and some things just need to be looked at when inthe air .

I just maidened two new planes yesterday. I am like most of the other folks on here and enjoy doing it. The only one that I didn't maiden was my trainer.

I maiden them all. From the first flying wing that had everything reversed to present day. There's a great thrill in putting a new plane up. Plus I learn more about the plane from that first flight. How it handles ,balance,cg. If the planes handed to you trimmed out it can mask some of these traits.

Yep I maiden my own. Even my trainer when I first started. It was scary though. I didn't know about any clubs in our area at the time. So I flew off of the road out in front of my place. It isn't traveled to often, it is paved, and there are not any neighbors close by. I taxied around my yard for about a half hour got bored and decided to go for it. Well needless to say she turned hard right after take off. Flew over my house almost into the trees. I got it turned back around and went over my shop and back out over the field I intended on flying over in the first place. I then proceeded to land in the field. No damage WHOO HOOO. I let my nerves calm down for a while and tried it again. This time the flight went better but the landing not so good. Broke out my firewall. Fixed her up and tried again. ETC ETC.

Where do you have to look to find a maiden? I can't find one anywhere that's made it all the way to a legal age...
