Okay boys, let's hear your thoughts. We'd like to hear from y'all about who do you think the best RC pilot of all time is. There's been a ton of great one's and the good thing is they're still with us for the most part. Hanno has to be in the running I'm sure, but let's see who you think the King of RC is.

Well certainly Chip Hyde needs to be mentioned. He has been successful in many different areas, fixed wing aerobatics, heli's, pylon racing. The previous thread asked about category....I'd say "RC Aviation".

Tons of great pilots out there, but I have to vote for QQ.

I think the guy who seems (currently) to be the best ambassador for the sport I would say QQ or Mr. Frank Knoll. I think either one puts the best interest of the hobby before making any decisions... and to me thats impressive.

Best all around to me is Chip. He covers so many different areas so well including F3A, Scale Aerobatics, F3D, Quickie 500, and helis, along with his RPV work. Best soaring pilot?? Daryl Perkins gets my vote (4 time World F3B champion), with Joe Wurts a tiny bit behind him. So close that it might be a toss up in fact. Both are simply talented beyond anything you have ever seen when it comes to soaring. They thermal, F3B and slope race at the highest levels imaginable. And there are others. Larry Jolly (also one kick ass heli pilot in his day), Mike Smith (US F3B Team member) and a few others too. Best heli pilot?? Man, too many to choose from. And then you have to define your terms. F3C or 3D?? In F3C Ito-San is the current Champion and he won the recent 3D TOC-Style contest in Taiwan. Curtis Yougblood is a living legend in both F3C and 3D. Cliff Hiatt, Dwight Schilling both get honorable mention in F3C for the US. Scott Gray from Canada is no slouch at either type of heli flying. Add in 3D and you have to start talking about Jason Krause, Alan Szabo, Eric Larson and a few others. In the end I am not sure this type of question really has answer because you have to parse your areas so closely. I am not sure it really can be answered beyond saying who your personal favorite is for a particular style of flying. |

Andrew Jesky. Absoutley awesome pilot, and a tremendous asset to the sport. Extremely nice guy, willing to help anybody, and does not put himself up higher than anybody else when doing so. Andrew does very well in Pattern, IMAC, and is also one hell of a heli pilot. I really believe that personality is very important when answering this question. Andrew hands down has one of the best personalites of anybody I have ever met, and I mean in life in general, not just r/c. Andrew is also very inovative and brings lots of new ideas to the sport.
