Default Terrible Accident in Hungary

Found the following news on a European news site.

Lets hope we dont have to see it again for many years to come.

I cant imagine how every body involved must feel.
Please everyone, keep your equipment maintanied and fly safe!

Nick

UPDATE2-Crashing model airplane kills two, hurts three (adds FOUR INJURED, details)
Budapest, May 13 (MTI) - Two people died and four others were injured when a model plane crashed into a crowd of spectators at an international model builders' show at Ocseny Airport, SW Hungary, on Saturday, police reported.
The accident was caused by a 2-2.5 metre-long, remote control model built by a German pilot that went down behind the fence into a group of spectators, organiser Gabor Biro told MTI on site. Two people died, a couple from nearby Szekszard, who had come to see the show with their grown-up children.

Four others were taken to a hospital in Szekszard with slight injuries, the ambulance services said.

It is assumed that the model became uncontrollable due to a technical interference problem, Chairman of the Hungarian Modelling Federation Andor Harmath told MTI.

We had a similar accident over here in England. A young girl was hit with a Irvine 61 powered Acro wot in the head and was killed. It once again proves how wrong people are, when they call model aircraft "Toys"

That is terrible news...

Our hobby is an awesome one, however, if all isn't right, it can be a dangerous one, as well.

We have all seen an airplane out of control, at times it's the pilot, sometimes it's an electrical or mechanical failure. Every time it happens, this sort of tragedy is possible. I don't profess to know, nor am I able to speculate the cause of this horrible ordeal.

What I do know is we need to pray for those involved, especially for the family of those that were lost.

May God bless them all.

This is motivation for us all to make sure our planes are setup as safe as possible. Also operated as safe as possible. Sorry for the people affected by the accidents.

Very sad news. This is why I am terrified to have my family anywhere near a flying field with large scale models. When this kind of thing happens I put myself in the shoes of the families in loss. Bless them all!!!!

Wow.we had something like that happen not to long ahgo down in Houston, Tx. A flight instrutor was teaching a student how to fly an rc helicopter... well the flight instructor looked away and ramped the motor up and the heliocpter jumped up and clean cut his head off. I feel srry for the family he left behind and the fellow KId who had to see the worst side of RC helicopters on his first lesson.

For a prefessional pilot, you think the failsafe would have been set to kill the engine...surely that could have saved those lives, maybe.
