How much difference will I end up spending between the two? What DOES it cost to build a 35% with a DA 100 ground up, common ARF, yadda yadda yadda. Just an average ARF,cans,DA 100, 8611's, the full Jazz without rx, I will use 1 Futaba G3 rx. Thanks... I just don't know if I wanna do a 35% or spend the extra and just get a nicer flying birdie... at the 40% size. Thank You.

Grem, I just built a Yak 54 for a friend. I used Futaba 9451 at 64 dollars a piece and two 9152's at 100 a piece. Simple nimh batteries, and everything else was done as cheap as possible. It came out to 3,700 dollars. This was for a 35% bird using a 106 3W engine. The Yak cost was 950. There is a big jump when you step up to the 40%. Engine, servos, wires, ect all cost quite a bit more. Garrett |

Grem, I would say probably $1500 - $2000 more. I built my Panzl for around $3600+/- $200 I think it would have been over $5000 to build a 40%.

Since most of the running gear can be used in both, here's what I'd say the difference is. Certainly the cost difference between the 35% and 40% Kit/ARF, probably $400-$600. Add another four servos, $400. The difference between a 100 and a 150, $500. Add up the misc. stuff like extra servo arms, linkages, extensions etc., $150. So, there you have it. Basically the difference would be $1,500 give or take. Except for the engine, you can put everything from a 40%er into a 35%er.. But you can't fully load a 40%er with 35%er parts. |

| If you start out with the assumption that the 100cc plane will be as you specified with DA-100 and 8611 servos, then the price increase does not need to be as much as you might think. I will speak from within my own product line (Wild Hare R/C), other lines will vary as prices are all over the map. Airframe 35% Sukhoi = $895, 41% Extra 300 = $1,295 increase is $400. Engine DA-100 = $1149, DA-150=$1495 increase is $346. Add $150 for other goodies like stronger batteries, etc. (mystery costs) Hardware 100cc plane = $83 150cc plane = $110 increase $37. additional rudder servo = $105. Everything else will be about the same. So the increase in this case is $1038. You can (optionally) add more servos but we have found this to be unnecessary in most cases if you use good servos like 8611a, 5955TG, etc. You may also want to use 2 receivers or a power box, these goodies are where you start adding more expense to the project. Not absolutely necessary, most guys feel more comfortable with them. Tom Fawcett Wild Hare R/C |

I double checked the numbers, and I'm right there between $3500 and $3600 into it. And I didn't skimp on anything. Hitech 5945's all around except the rudder 5995, power expander, Fromeco 4800 and 2400 with 6V regs, good hardware, good servo leads, 3W 100 motor, good chrystal-less receiver... its all in there.. and it rocks... I even bought a CF wing tube and spinner which were not nessary, but helped my weight! Do what you really want though... If you think you really want a 40% do that.. because if you don't that "I need bigger" feeling will eat at you until you get one. If your happy with 35% (as I am) then do that... I love my plane... BUt I also love my WH 260 just as much.. and thats only 33%.. to be honest the difference is pretty minimal between those two as well!
