Default 2008 Georgia IMAC

We might host a IMAC event here in Griffin, GA next year. I am looking either April, May, or June. What would be a good month for it. Also it will not be at my home field but at a local field in Griffin where Ultra Lights mainly fly. The guy that owns this place is a good friend of mine and I plan to talk to him about it in the next couple of weeks. There is plenty of room for motorhomes and parking. There is also a cross grass runway. Will post pictures of the place later.
I just need to know what date. Who is interested. And if anyone would like to help out let me know. I have couple of people so far willing to help.

Thanks!!!!

By the way Griffin, GA is located just 45 minutes south of Atlanta.

Thats only 5 hours for me. I good with that. May or June would be cool. The Spring Classic in Tampa is April 19th/20th.

Great news Kevin!

Scheduling is everything when it comes to a contest. Look at what is already posted on the contest list and at last year's schedule. You'll need to work around the SEEF at Hodges (whenever they try it this year), the Joe Nall fly-in in May, the Youth Masters in June and the Nats in July. Late March was a traditional Georgia date with the defunct Mack Hodges IMAC event so you might consider then. The weather can be iffy but it would be good to have an early season event closeby.

Give me a call soon and I'll be happy to help you with the planning. There should be plenty of IMAC experience in Ga. that would help as well.

Thanks for reminding me about SEFF. I will look into March to. My Spring break is the last week of March so that would be a good week for me. Gives me time to go out and set the field up and everything.

Guys was wondering if it was too late to add an event to the 08 schedule. I went to the field today where I wanted to have one and talk to the guy and he would really like for us to have an event there. They fly ultra lights off the field. A lot of space!!! They even have a Dirt Track for RC cars where they compete those. Only problem I still need to send in my contest director stuff and dont know how long that will take to hear back from. I have just been a little busy these past couple of months. I was thinking about having the event maybe in July.

We have a club meeting this Saturday for my club and I will mention it to the club about having one.

Thanks.

There is a overhead view of the field. You will notice what looks like a a big field with a runway cut out of the grass each way.

Kevin,
This is great news. Just figure out your date. Check all calendars! IMAA and AMA for other events then contact the IMAC competitors in you area. Ron, Joe, Wayne for there input on dates. Then just "Add a Contest" on the IMAC website. Don H. will have to approve it.

Take the CD test now and get it sent in. It did not take that long to get mine back. The field that is hosting the event may have a CD already.. You can coordinate the event and let someone else CD. If you need assistance you may PM me and I will give you my #

Kent Porter
