One thing I have noticed is guys cheering for Team USA. This is not the world round yet. We are cheering for your fav American pilot to make the top three and be on Team USA. So far Don and Andrew have the most fans here. Sean has a nod.
What about JAS and Chip? QQ can make it to this year. There are also some young heavy hitters that could pull an upset. Brett is the first name that comes up in that group. You know I'm pretty sure he has never lost at the NATS. That would be a good trend to keep up!! We also have the veterans that have always been close. Todd Blose is there team captian. Trust me if anyone chokes or has trouble the vets will be right there to take over.
So what do you guys think?
JD
JAS, QQ, and Chip are all given to be heavy hitters. The Don and Animal votes are more along the lines of seeing some awesome pilots make it. JAS, Chip and QQ have many worlds under their belts.....

Well, let me tell you .... ths year is shaping up nicely.. Today, all sorts of young and old, new and vets have been showing up during the day. I spent the day at field 3 on the NATS site geting in about 5 flights, had some troubles but got things ironed out and moving forward.

Yes, everyone is here, its an awesome feeling this year in the air. Last year was fun, bragging rights etc but this year you can tell that its time for busniess. The table is set for a National Shootout for 3 spots as Jason eluded. Its unfortunate that we cant take 2 teams to the Worlds as we have the talent to send and do well.

I personally got to see QQ fly as he too flew was at site 3 and the new biplane is someting to behold, very nice ( Euphoria ). Some Astrals showed up this year, several versions and of course the twins ( www.insightrc.com ) shameless plug! HAHAHA.

Visited with the Lowe's for most of the day and caught a glimpse of several FAI/Masters pilots dropping in and out.

This is truely going to be a great year to have attened the NATS.

Pics to follow this evening...

Chuck and Mark

Hi Mark and Chuck,
How is it going? As you didn't post any pics last night, perhaps you will make up for it tonight.
Good luck, and safe landings guys

How many years is JAS going to have to hear that?! I admit that was a bit much but he seems to be coming around with age. If he wasn't half awake he may get the shakes!

Jason is the best natural pilot I've ever seen. It was no suprise to see him come from last place to winning it all.

The final standings were:

1-Jason
2-QQ
3-Animal Jesky
4-Sean McMurtry (alternate)
5-Chip
6-Brett Wickizer

That's as much as I can remember. I'll tell you right now, Brett is the one to watch in the future. He's gone from beginner to 6th at the team trials in only 2 1/2 years. If he's able to maintain his pace, he's a good bet for the team in '09.
