Default Nice Workbench

Gentlemen,

I found this workbench at COSTCO today. The top was arrow straight and the base is heavy steel.

Yikes! Do you know how many solid core doors and 2x's You could buy for that! Not to mention a good inexpensive table saw and/or drill press. Probably have enough left over for a trip to Mickey D's.

Costco has some nice deals sometimes, but IMHO, this ain't one of them.

In all actuallity that is not a bad price on a 1 1/2' thick 90" maple top, when you consider that price includes shipping. The shipping on a bench like this would be more than a few postage stamps. I priced some bench top like this a couple of years ago just tops were running $250 to 350 and you pick them up.

I kinda missed the shipping thing there. I wonder if that means they would be considerably lower "in store" where you pick it up and drag it off yourself?

make friends with some of the local electrical device companies if you have them. I picked up this ESD table for 50 bucks. It even came with the lights!

My parents got me something similar from SAMS, but the table top still isn't true enough to sheet my wings on. I'm looking into something else now.

If you SoCal boys ever need solid core doors just give me a shout! I probaly throw away anywhere from 50-200 per year depending on the type of projects I get assinged too.. I just tossed six that never even got routed or drilled...
