Default Saito FG36 in Pattern?

Just curious if anyone has, or is tempted to, try the Saito 2.2 gasser in a 2 meter? Having not flown in an AMA pattern contest (IMAC only for a number of years), I wonder if this would be a viable alternative to glow/electric and still meet sound and weight regs. Sorry guys, I'm really spoiled by flying only gas for the last few years but would love to try pattern. I've followed a few attempts by others with various other small gas engines and it seems to be possible. The four stroke gas factor has me excited enough now to look for a suitable airframe.

Chris

Compared to a new YS or OS 200? - not really especially if you're burning less than $4 of gas instead of $30 of glow every time you go to the field.

Chris,

On the bench the performance numbers looked quite well.

Menz 18*8: 8200 (prop too small)
APC 16*12: 8300 (prop too small)
Engel 18*11 (narrow bladed prop): 7900
Engel 17*12 (wide bladed prop): 7600

I'm in the process of building a plane around it.
