Hey guys,

I'm just finishing up the rebuilding of the controls on my El Nino. I noticed some rolling of the airframe during my pulls and some wing rock during my flat lines. In checking the control surfaces I noticed some pretty serious wear in some of the control horns and servo arms. The hole in the aileron servo arms had started to wear allowing about 1/4" of slop at the trailing edge of the aileron, no wonder the wings were rocking. One of the elevator halves had wear in the control horn which allowed it to move almost 1/4", one elevator half was tight, one half was worn, no surprise that I was having a problem pulling into a radius cleanly.

I will be flying this bird until my Black Magic is complete and it looks like I'll be looking for someone to do the final building and covering for me, I just can't seem to find the time.

Here is a pic of my El Nino, for those that haven't seen it,

I could be building right now, but I think I'll go flying instead

75 degrees and sunny, 5 to 7 mph winds

That weather sounds great, but you have to take some time off to build. If you don't you will end up with nothing. I know I complain about Michigan winters, but I guess it gives me the time needed to build. If I did not build my own planes, I don't think I would enjoy this hobby as much as I do. I guess I need that connection between me and the plane. Finish buiding your Black Magic. I promise you will not regret it. Maybe you won't be able to get it done until next season, so what. You have a plane to fly this year. Once you feel the satisfaction of building your own plane, you will never be the same. Go for it, you'll love it.

Ken, even if you have someone else build it you will have to wait. Now go get to work.
