Ken, Mike is building you a V2. Close enough. I can't wait to see yours done, and flying at the Nats next year.

ken's plane is actually already built, just needs a few things finished up. This particular V2 is one of the very first ones ever, in fact it has one of only 2 surviving carbon belly pans ever made. I'm considering building a special set of wings for that plane, since one panel needs to be rebuilt anyway. basically the same thing just with a little thicker TEs. I cut the cores a long time ago, might as well use them! Ok then I'll do up a build thread on the VF3. Never done one here before so I'll have to check on a few details, but it should be entertaining..... Ken I'd fly this 2 to death. If you want a 3 in the future, I'm sure at some point we can make it happen. -Mike |

No disagreement on the V2, and flying it to death is the plan ![]() ![]() ![]() The V3 thing is a future dream, not current. I was pullin' your leg on that one ![]() In flying both the V2 and the V3, the V3 in a pretty good crosswind, I'm fully in favor of flying the 2 for the forseeable future. Just a clarification...the V3 has a larger side area than the V2 which could complicate things in cross-wind flight for a pilot of my limited experience, hence my desire to stick with the V2 for the time being. One additional thing, I already own the V2 which Mike has graciously offered to help me complete. Thanks again Mike!! Thank you Mike for doing the new build thread, it'll be sweet!

The VF3 is definitely a masters/FAI plane (specifically FAI). It was not intended for the step classes, but it is a lethal weapon if you are comfortable with using every axis of both sticks. A guy flying IMAC or electrics for instance should have no problem getting his groove on with this thing. A lawn dart it ain't. If you're flying pattern with elevator and aileron only, using rudder for stall turns, and only know 2 throttle positions (idle and screaming), the VF3 would be a handful. Although in the same breath I couldn't think of a better plane to teach those things....I wouldn't make the switch in mid season, because it takes some getting used to. It's the only pattern plane I know of that feels like a 40% plane, and that's no joke. Just a lot cleaner without all the coupling ![]() At any rate, allright I'll start a build thread soon. -Mike |

A note on the Euphoria, it takes the same amount of time to get that airplane put together as it does to put a Brio together. The only two screws that you have on the Euphoria are the two bolts for the bottom wing, the cabanes stay on the fuse and the interplane struts are attached with music wire. Not difficult at all to put together. And yes, Mike, a build thread on the VF3 would be awesome. It would be way more awesome if it were on here. It was good seeing you and Melissa at the Nats, I hope to see you again before next year. |
