Yep, that's what I heard!! I was sworn to secrecy, so I haven't said a thing and a big thanks to Mike for making it public. This is very good news for the Pattern community and precision flyers as a whole. The airplanes that come out of this endeaver will be some of the best there is, Mike will see to that. Thanks Don for bringing this to our attention.

Hey Don, I agree on this news, simply awesome!! I knew you had at least one V3 on the way, I was originally in line for one, but Mike got too busy to frame it for me so I'm the proud owner of a 85% complete V2. I hope to be flying it by the Nats, if not I will be flying Archie Staffords old Mantis. One way or another I'll be flying one of Mikes birds this year!!!

Don: I think that's great Stephen starting to fly pattern. I'm sure it will also help his IMAC flying. With his past IMAC successes he obviously is a skilled and talented pilot. What class does he intend to fly in pattern? We are going to try real hard to make one of the D3 contests this season, most likely Pensacola, maybe we will be able to personally meet you guys there. If not I'm sure we will see you in Muncie. Mike Wickizer |

Ok guys, Just picked my Black Magic V2 and took a couple of pics of the fuse. I will say this bird is 75% to 80% complete. I think I'm looking at about 10 hours of work before it's ready for glass and maybe another 4 hours of work on the belly pan and canopy before they're ready for paint. The fuse, as it sits, with belly pan and canopy weighs in at 1 lb. 15.4 oz.. I don't think I'll have any problem pulling this bird around with a 140L. This bird has had several hands on it, from my understanding it goes like this. Dean Funk framed and sheeted the fuse, Mike Hester sheeted the foam parts, and Buddy Gush was involved in the additional work to get it to this stage. Notice the carbon fibre belly pan, one of 3 in existance, to my understanding, for the V2, thank you Mike Hester!!!

I flew my new Austral this week, man what a plane. It came in at 4.5kg and has so much vertical performace it's amazing. I have been flying a pinnicle with a dz160, It seemed to stuggle a bit in vertical's , the Austral doesn't even require full throttle at some times. I added about .5 of a degree of negative on the stab, not sure were the CG is, but feels really neutral. I love this plane, make's flying "P 07" feel so much easier. GlennO |

Okay so I dig pattern airplanes. There, I said it. So I have a Mintor 170 w/carbon pipe. It's art. I really want another pattern bird. Triple Tree is SUPER sensative to noise, so I could fly a pattern bird there all the time with no problem. I've had a ton of birds from back in the day. Last couple were a Patriot and an Evolution. I DO NOT EVER want retracts EVER again. So what's out there? Looks like there are no more Brio's from Piedmont. The composite planes (other than Comp ARF) are expensive. So what would you guys recomend? I really like to cover, so an ARF would be cool. Really don't have the time (nor talent!) to build. PUBLIC GIANT PROPS TO TROY NEWMAN!!!!!!! I busted his chops pretty good about being a pattern guy in Tucson, now I'm looking to get me another lawn dart. Troy I'm your bitch dude, Sorry!! PS.. Troy took both barrels of the ridicule shotgun like a pro. The guy has class!

hey Biff, glad to see you around brother. Pattern is very cool as well, certainly have some serious respect for these guys, especially after flying some with Jim Woodard, and learning about the box, man us old guys, with poor eye sight need a pattern handicap class. : )))We love flight so if it flies counts us in, and look forward to seeing you on the trail somewhere out there. See ya

Hey Biff, I was thinking real hard of finishing this bird and sending it to you for covering, but I'm thinking of glassing and paint now. Much more durable and I can afford the extra couple of ounces to glass and paint the wings. I'm also thinking about a scheme, in red, white and blue, that I can use for all of my new birds. I don't currently have a "personal scheme" and am open to ideas, it will need to be duplicated in paint or covering, so simplicity is a must, simple but individual. This is the challenge at hand, tell your friends...I'll be starting a thread if there is any interest in helping me design a scheme. The chosen scheme will have the designers name in vinyl on the tail for all to see, as a special thank you. Sorry, no money involved, I'm just a workin' man like you guys ![]() Does it sound like I'm trying to get something for nothing? Heck yes I am!! Actually I suck at designing schemes, and need all the help I can get...
