Ben - Your example of the Caprise going in because of a .02 cent servo wheel always sticks with me. I'll look at it again, but I have used this type of wheel on the rudder for a while. The first wheel had less material - this is the beefed up one

Don - Your Genesis is next - but I don't have any equipment for it yet. Don't worry though, I have enough stuff to work on for my own planes

A123 - I tore off the original tabs and soldered on my wires directly to the battery. I'll re-think it though. I have two more cells of 2300 and could solder up another pack if necesary too.

Thanks Guys,
Jim

Hey Jim,

I know I don't need to be telling you anything about batteries, but sure don't take a chance with a questionable battery. That plane is too pretty for something like that to take it down.

Well, I'll look at it again. I have more confidence in a battery that I soldered up versus brand X. I have had Duralites, Fromcoes, and various others all fail due to one reason or another, be it degraded performance or actually broken wires or tabs.
Thanks,
Jim

Jim Dude,

What's going on tonight? I just got through spraying some clear on my fuse. and it was almost perfect. I decide to spray a little clear on some of the carbon parts on the inside of the canopy area and when I pulled the trigger it scattered dust all over my perfect clear finish. BIG DUMMY!! I took some papertowel soaked in reducer and wiped it all off and I'll resand and shoot again.

I'm assuming you have your paint tent down and got everything else anchored. We should be getting it around 2PM up here. Keep us posted on the test hop.

I don't know Larry - bands of rain down here. Also, my T-cannalizer has a bad incidence. I'm debating how to fix it at the moment. Either I need to build a wedge with a high point of 3/16", and then glass, prime, sand, and repaint, or I need to go to the LE and cut off a wedge so to speak, then break out the reminants of the bottom mounting bulkhead. This came pre assembled and sits at 1.0 degree positive, when it is supposed to sit at zero when the fusleage & stab is zero.

Ending the night on some good news! I did CG tests with the header tank full. It was crazy nose heavy. I took out the header tank and dropped 1.1 oz. CG was still very nose heavy. I replaced the TT solid backplate spinner with the CA Models CF spinner, and waa'la! The CG is now on the leading edge of the wing tube. By most accounts this is still on the nose-heavy side for this aircraft so this is where it will be for test flights.

Humberto's T-can is also 1.0 degree positive and he convinced me to fly it like this before making any changes so I'm going to leave it - for now.

So - I just weighed the plane RTF minus fuel on my digital scale, and after making these changes it is 10 lbs 6 oz !!!!!! This is a super bad-ass low weight for this plane - lightest Osmose I've read about so far and still on the nose heavy side of things even with dual elevator servos.

When picking up the plane it feels light too
Thanks,
Jim

Hey Jim,

Ok tell me when the big day is going to happen. It should be calm tomorrow to give it a try. I just finished the clear on my plane tonight and I'm going to start setting it up again. I still have to do the wings and should have done in a week.

Keep me posted

Larry

The glosssy spinner looks cool. It took about 10 minutes to cut out for the prop. The T-can is mounted. I'm looking for a test flight tomorrow after work.
Thanks,
Jim
