I'm one.... and I'll admit it. Sailplanes rock.... go fast, turn hard... no fuel needed. Who else is out there.... Don't worry, we'll accept you as you are.... |

I have a couple of sailplanes. They are just 2 channel birds but hoping to move up to a full house bird this summer. There is just something relaxing about going out and flying with just gravity and air currents as power.

I have one too. Nothing as relaxing as catching a thermal on a lazy summer day and flying nonstop for an hour.

Not in the closet at all. I LOVE thermal duration contests and also scale aerotowing. Some DLG and RES as well. Hell, I love gliders. Period. My hangar: Sharon Pro 3.7 (primary contest plane) Sharon Pro 3.7 (back up) NYX (Carbon F3J version) Artemis LT - red V-tail Artemis LT - yellow V-tail The above are all molded planes out of Eastern Europe. I am sorry, but a Comp-ARF looks like it was put together by a stoned 4 year old compared to the workmanship in these planes. Topaz (RES) Organic (2M) Blaster (DLG) Lil' Breeze (DLG) 4.3 meter ASW-27 (all molded HKM plane) 6 meter ASH-26 (all molded Schuler plane) E-Graphite (all molded with a Hacker B-40-FAI motor - 100 amps of electric soaring bliss). None of the above are your Daddy's Gentle Lady to be sure!! My home glider club is the famous Torrey Pines Gulls, home of 2 of 3 of the 2007 US F3B Team (Mike Smith and Aaron Valdes). I get to fly regularly against some of the best soaring pilots in the world. Folks like Daryl Perkins (4-time CONSECUTIVE World F3B champion), Mike Smith (current US NATS champ, World Soaring Master's Champ, Visalia Champ, and US F3B Team Member), Joe Wurts (too bad he is off to Kiwi land), Mike Reagan, John Erickson, Ben CLerx, Larry Jolly (ask him for some avocados when you see him), Aaron Valdes (F3B team member), Mike Lee, and on and on. Out here in SOCAL we are indeed in soaring heaven.

Never been a glider guy in the past and not sure if those "hotliners" count but after getting to fondle a few at the AMA show and Levi mentioning 220 mph I think I may have to try one.

well you guys know i have them. iam not in the closet. and jee get one and it will change your whole outlook on rc. youll wonder why you never did it before. oh yea it will make you a better 3-d pilot too. one things for shure you will never dread a dead stick again . also alot of the so called radio hits that are claimed by pilots will go away after they realize it just a thermal hitting them.... hahaha

Recently got back into soaring with a "Long Shot" HLG and it is awsome. Last weekend caught a thermal and went up nearly outta sight. I will never be without a HLG again.
