Check out an Audacity Pantera 50 with a BBC (Big Block Conversion). 50 size machine, 60-70-90 size engine conversion. talk about POP! Lots of info on RR in the Audacity forum...oh, and I forgot to let you know it cost a lot less than a TR700. Jon

You're right. He didn't ask about the Pantera. I simply offered him another avenue of approach towards a high performance helicopter that will not break the bank in purchase or when buying replacement parts when it goes in. If you think a certian model is, in your words, "crappy", so be it. Please let others form their own opinions.

I can understand where your coming from about maybe not posting my opinion about what may or may not be crappy. But.... I do feel that it's important to get the truth out there.... The Audacity line of helis are for sure not in the top 3 or 4 name brands.

Along that line, I think the best machine this individual could get is whatever the majority of the guys in his area are flying, and also what the availability of parts are locally. Most hobby shops carry Thunder Tiger and Align parts, only a small handfull carry Audacity parts. Most online shops carry Align and Thunder Tiger parts. Only a handfull cary Audacity parts, but that is a moot point when talking about online business. If you can get it from the source (in Audacity's case) then there is really no reason to look elsewhere online for the part, but if you have an established accoount with someplace like Heliproz, HHI, Centruy etc., or someplace that carrys the parts you are needing, or even the upgrade "bling" you want, then by all means go with them. Bottom line is this: Get what you want, or what you can get help with from your peers. I was simply offering a $299 kit (Panter 50, additional cost will be incurred going BBC for more power) alternitave to the $539 for a Raptor STD 90 kit, or $788.99 for the TR700 from Heliproz. Oh, and FWIW...I think the TR700 is one sexy b!t¢h. I'd get one if I were really looking for a 90 size bird...and could afford it.

If someone wants a 90, a Pantera is not an option. There's a lot more to a 90 than the big engine, and no matter how much power you shove into the Pantera, it'll never have the low disk loading of a 90. I haven't owned a 700 yet, but I did see one fly last week, and I've owned a lot of Raptor 90s. Get the 700. It's significantly lighter, and is much more agile than the Raptor. Parts are dirt cheap, and the quality is much better than other Align products. That's not to say that the Raptor isn't a great heli, just that its time has passed. The 700 will be my next heli. |
