| Flyin' Around ![]() | Forgive me for knowing absolutely nothing about jr stuff. If i were to get a rx for it would I have to buy a pcm and would it have to be JR? All I know about JR is that everyone at my field makes fun of the 1 guy that flys jr stuff. Even he doesn't know much about his own radio. I know this much, that he has had problems with some of his rx's. I've seen two of his planes go in that he didn't have any control of whatsoever. I dont want the same problems. |

| OK 1 Roll, No I Mean 2 Point ![]() | Chances are that guy did not lose his planes beacause it was JR. I dont usually post on stuff like this but I like the 10 series transmitters. Here is something to think about. Since that radio is only able to transmit on 512Zpcm and standard FM/ppm I think pcm is out of the question unless you buy a used rx .I dont think zpcm recievers have been offered for sometime. I would be looking at 4 options with this transmitter assuming it is in good repair. 1. You could do nothing and buy something new. 2. You could use a standard JR or compatibale FM/PPM reciever. (Problem is your only usually going to find them in 7 channels) 3 You could convert it to 2.4 ghtz spread spectrum by purchasing an upgrade module/rx from horizon. 4 You could also use a multiplex IPD synth reciever (my personal favorite but hey, I fly MPX so I am biased) which will let you use the fm/ppm mode on your transmitter while giving you all the benifits of PCM like failsafes and filtering. You might also consider sending the trans to horizon for a check-up and a copy of the manual. Last edited by budgetdude : 06-29-2007 at 09:46 AM. |

| Flyin' Around ![]() | Thanks budgetdude and temptation. I sent you a pm. I appeciate the help. I really don't know much about jr and I'm trying to educate myself so I'm not doing the buy it twice thing. So Far I've had good luck with my Hitec radio optic 6. The only problem is with a new AT-6 is that Im short a couple of channels so I was considering using the jr radio I had for flaps and retracts. I don't necessarily need the pcm rx since it's only a 90 size plane. I just wanted to explore my options to figure out what to do. Is the old modulation not as good? (512, whatever that means) I'm sure it has something to do with the old protocol. Thanks again for the help. |
