The GY401 & 9254 must be run on 4.8v, or else the magic smoke escapes ![]() Yea, it sux, but thats the way it is. I am not sure if anyine makes a gyro/servo rated for 6V. The upside is that the GY401/9254 is a very good combo unless your into hard 3D.

I have given up on the very short life of the 9254 when used on the boom of a nitro ship. I am now using the 401/HiTec 6965. This combo is perfectly happy at 6V, the nitro exhaust residue has no effect on the HiTec servo, and I can not tell a difference in performance once set up correctly. |

6v doesn't bother the gyro. If its 6v regulated you can run a step down to the tail servo and it will be fine. I prefer canopy mounted servos anyways. Most people that cook 54's are going old school and turning the gain up till it wags then backing down a hair.

Thanks for the info guys. I did order a voltage step down (Align) so I can use the futaba 9254 and installed a hitec 6965 to use till it gets here. The problems with the 9254 failing is that only when mounted on the tail boom and not when mounted on the frame.
