Help! Torque Roll Question

I have a 40% Carden Edge and I was wondering why when trying to torque roll it needs to be leaning slightly toward the canopy to start rolling?I've been trying to figure this out but haven't been too successful.
I would much rather have it wanting to torque when being straight vertical.
If any one has any advise,comments or knowledge as to how I can correct this or what's causing this I would greatly appreciate it.

Edgeman,

Believe it or not, there is no problem. When the plane is looking like it is leaning to the canopy, that is when the plane is actually vertical and what you are looking for. To me, it is just a visual illusion with the rear turtle deck making it look odd and wrong in the eye of vertical, but you do want the plane leaning and it will darn near start the TR rather easily at that point. Don't fight it, just lean it to the canopy you will have it.

Most guys that I have helped with TR'n also have had the same perception on this visual of the plane.

Will the plane want to fall over on the canopy or when it locks in it will pretty much stay there?

Not sure of your 3D experience, but As you pull the plane into a vertical position, you want to hold the plane steady slowly adding or touching "UP" elevator. When the plane get to the right vertical position, it will start TR'n, but it will not be a hands off thing. The plane will constantly need small inputs to hold the vertical as the plane rotates. We have found that the plane will require an "Up ele. and right rudder input as the bottom of the plane starts to show itself to you. I don't undrstand whay, but you will be adding these inputs each time the bottom comes around. And thid this goes with all the other small inputs to keep the plane vertical. Some of the inputs can be aggessive and others minor. You have to give the plane what it wants.
There will be times when the plane will get into a perfect TR and will require very minimal inputs, but this is rare and depends on your inputs. I use plenty of Expo on all my surface when learning, cause I was always over controling the plane. It does take getting use to to keep in control. I also tell my guys I teach, that when you are starting to get out of shape, that more throttle should be the first input and you want to keep the nose pointed up.

There is also usually a bit more weight below the axial line from the motor center to the ele/rud.

My 3D flying is fine I just wanted to make sure that my plane was taking the correct attitude during the torque roll.After all there no sense in fighting a planes bad tendencies if they can be ironed out.
