Default 3DHS Sukhoi 57" on Glow Power

Anybody flying the 3DHobbyShop 57" Sukhoi on glow? What Engine? 1 or 2 tail servos? Did you have to add weight to the tail to balance it? How much weight did you add? Does it harrier without wing rock? Any performance issues?

I have one with a saito 82, flys great and lite with lots of power. 4 strokes sound cool too. You will need 2 tail servos......if not anything else, just to get it to balance. Don't really need to add any wieght, if you use 2 tail servos, should balance fine as-is. Put your reciever pack toward the rear below the pull-pull cables to help balance it. I built a small platform for the battery, wasn't difficult.

It does have a bit of wing rock if the attack angle isn't perfect (if you get it right, it's OK), iMHO there are better planes as far as wing-rock is concered. However it does rolling manuvers more crisply and looks much better spinnig than some of the more stable planes. It hovers really well, and does pattern stuff well. It's a trade-off I guess.

If you like the looks of it, go for it! Every 3DH plane I have owed (about 8 of them) has been terrific.

In the 3DHS lineup, the Sukhoi is more of a pattern plane that can 3D well. The 55" Edge is a more 3D oriented plane.

I think it flies pretty good, but is somewhat unforgiving of ham-handedness. I would agree with the previous posters generally. It will 3D well, and is particularly comfortable in precision flight as well.

My buddy has one of these with a saito 82 and it is awsome. The LG plate is not too strong though it ripped right out while landing, and it was a soft landing on a runway. I can't see how it would hold up on grass. I believe there is a discussion on RCU about this and several people are having this problem on the V1's. Although the problem has been denied by 3dhs, they say in all cases it is the pilots landing skill that caused it, I hear they are strengthing the V2.

Dude, you're not even on the correct plane. The 57" Sukhoi does NOT have a V2.

My gear have been fine.............it would take a dead-stick pancake landing to do anything to it.

Well, I'm the person who makes the decisions about the 3DHobbyShop product lineup, why not just ask me?

Since the 57" Sukhoi has a double-layer fiberglass-reinforced LG plate and one-piece molded carbon gear, I think we'll leave it just like it is.
