We'll try to help but need a little more info:

What is your heli setup - blades etc.?
How many turns out is the needle?
Is your clunk working correctly?
Are you using a header tank?

So I can't get the specks that you were asking for.

But let's just hear what some of the problems could be that you were thinking

Does it make a rattling noise at idle? Hypers are renowned for eating bearings. Do you know the pitch range?

Default Re: os 50 hyper not running good

he must have found a fix
but lets say that I had a os 50 hyper in a 600n sport
-11/+11 in pitch
with radex 600mm
stock paddles
with no governor

Then all of a sudden the engine starts to sputter in flight as if it was not getting gas/or sucking air. But after changing the lines it would still act the same.

This would be some of the things that i would look for.
1. look and see if the glow plug is good
2. try and see if there is any air getting in the lines
3. check the carb's o ring out for any damage
4. set all card adjustments back to factory settings and start over

Now if i still didn't find the problem, well it's time to take the engine out.
1. now that the engine is out i would look and see if the bearings in the main shaft are not binding. look at the one way on the clutch to see if it is in good working order. people have been having problems with there one way bearings locking up on the 600s
2.tear down the engine and look to see if the bearings are good, look at the piston and sleeve for signs of excessive wear. if so change them and then I'll have to break in the engine all over again

Now if by running through all of these steps and I didn't find a fix
well I would say that I'm lost

Then I would ask my self what would a pro do?
he/she would throw the bad engine as far as they can
and then put the one there sponsor gave them in and call it gooood

Exclamation Re: os 50 hyper not runing good

If you are running a header tank made by thunder tiger than you may want to check the top nipple on the tank. During molding there is a flap of plastic that ends up clogging the port and you have a lean running problem. You may also want to check all the head bolts for tightness. Also check the bearings, i have a friend who was having a similar problem and he sent the motor off and the front bearing was sucking air causing it to go lean and bog. Also some of the professional pilots from miniature aircraft told me that most hypers when broken in the main needle valve will be one full turn and about 5 clicks out from closed. They also told me that you do not want the motor to get over about 180 deg F. Anything over that and you are just taking life out of the motor. Hope this helps.

no I'll not be running a header tank on mine.
but good to know tx.

These bearings seem to be a big problem.
Is this a O.S thing or is it always that way with engine bearings.
So then what about some good after market bearings.

I've heard of a lot of Hypers in the UK going through bearings quite quickly. I've got a 91 C-Spec and the rear bearing went after a year and then the replacement 91 SZ-H had the front bearing seize up after 8 months. Now, I'm not into 3D and both engines had not done a lot of work.

At the moment, I suspect it's an OS problem. But there are a few other factors to consider. Methanol and Nitromethane are hydroscopic, meaning they attract moisture. The UK is a wet place and I used to just drain the tank leaving fuel in the engine. I now run my engines dry after flying and. so far, have had no problems.

For aftermarket bearings, try these guys, http://www.bocabearings.com/

yeah I've heard a lot of good things about the bocabearings
For you the ceramic ones would probably help a lot
have you heard of them
If so do you know how well they hold up to the fuel

I just talked to a friend of mine and he informed me that if you contact o.s. engines and let them know that you are returning a motor to be looked at that most of the time you will receive a brand new engine. This is what i am told. Hope this helps out.

Boca is awfully proud of thier products. Try http://www.rc-bearings.com

Turbo, needle settings depend on a lot of things so saying that hypers are happy at 1 turn and 5 clicks doesn't really tell you anything except that is what works for them for the gearing, blades, fuel, and muffler they are running and the density altitude they are running it at.
