I started out in electrics charging my batts using an old car battery and when it would die I would just charge it back up... problem was I had to charge it outside in my 130+degree garage... so I came across some websites that explained how to convert a PC PS to a PS for a 12v DC Charger... I had an old PC PS sitting around and gave it a whirl. The first one I tried didn't come out so well... I was drilling a hole for the on/off switch and got crazy and drilled right into a giant capacitor. Well it just so happened that my 5 year old computer decided to take a dump on me...and I figured since I'm just going to get another one I used the PS out of it. After a couple days of tinkering with it, it turned out great and I've used it about 20 times to charge up my lipos. One problem I have is I'm not sure how much amperage it's putting out... it handles my charger at 2amps...so it's good enough for me. Here are the links I used http://www.mattsrcstuff.com/PCPS.htm http://reckerclub.tripod.com/id105.html <~~~The one I used And here are a few shots of my PS... http://www.heligiants.com/gallery/sh...ry.php?cat=523 Of course you could always go out and buy a AC-DC converter...but what would be the fun!! I was told if you hook a multimeter up to it your gonna fry something... plus most multimeters on read 10A I could use the old Ohm's Law formula... but that would take me thinking back 7 years to electronic principals...and yeah that's not gonna work.. It's all good. It puts out 13.01v and how ever many amps. |
