Default Gear slipping-Trex 450 help

Sometimes the motor turns up without the main shaft. I went through and tightened everything and the problem went away but I think it was just coincidence. If the motor can turn without the main shaft does that mean the auto-rotation clutch is worn out? If not, what needs replaced?
Thanks,

Im betting your pinion is spinning on your motor shaft. Very common, file a flat spot on the motor, and add a bit o' blue loctite and tighten... Listen and see if you can here the engine rev when you first spool up. You'll know this also by punching it on a climb out and you'll lose power really fast. All the oneways Ive see fail are usually lock ups.

1 way isn't the problem. Almost for certain that the pinion is slippin on the motor shaft, like Toro says.
Start a hoer with it, and then punch out. That will be the tell tale on it.

Ok, I'm still having problems. It's definitely not the pinion. When it lets lose, the pinion continues to turn the upper gear, but the lower gear does not engage. Someone at the field suggested that there could be grease/oil between the one way and the main shaft. I took it out, cleaned it, and the problem was fixed....for awhile. It's happening again. It seems to be oily now.
I think the previous owner put a bunch of oil on the bearings, and when I pull the shaft up to remove the gear, the shaft gets oil on it again.
Any ideas?
I'm tired of spontaneous autos.

I just watched the finless video. He says there should be plenty of oil on there. Why is mine slipping if oil is normal?
Once again, the pinion is not slipping. It's turning the top gear just fine but the lower gear lets loose. slips sometimes under load.

Try replacing the one way. I had problems with mine letting go.

Can you replicate the problem by holding certain parts ? IE turn the mains and can you get the main to slip while holding the TR gear ? If it will slip by you doing it manually than its probably your 1 way bearing. Mine used to do the same thing, and I thought I would get it right, and finally like I said before traced it back to the pinion. Its hard because it still provides some power and it looks like the main gear is turning which it is, but there is'nt any power being applied to the main drive. IT will still turn, but has no power... Kind of like burning out on ice....

Perhaps its time to replace the whole enchilada ? main, oneway, pinion, and so on...

Your situation used to like to happen to me when I was inverted about 5' off the deck... I put it in inverted auto many a time....

I did a spontaneous inverted auto on my second flight with it. It was in long grass though so it didn't do anything. Thats the only real crash I've had so far. The SE is bullet proof. I'll go get new everything for the gear drive tomorrow. I'm sick of the roulette game.
I'm still amazed that it only does this once in awhile though. Ill do forward flips, punch outs all good. Then I put in the 25C pack and it lets out in a hover.

While I'm doing maintenance. What can I do to make it quicker? I have the 13t pinion the 430 motor 325 pro woodies and the TP 25C pack. I tried some tictocs but it doesn't have punch like a 90 on the sim (Imagine that ) This was with a lesser battery though.
Should I get some smaller blades and put the 15T pinion on? Anything else?
I've got the 9650/401 combo so I dont think that is a problem.

Fix your drive train, that is robbing performance. What is your headspeed and pitch? It's all in the radio setup.
