Well.......I got into the airplanes only about 8 months ago , and progressed up to building myself a 33% yak for this next summer. I originally got into this hobby/sport because i was really needing something else to do besides racing MX bikes. I have been racing them on and off for almost 30 years , and it has taken it's toll on me for sure.

Another reason i got into this hobby was because i thought it was going to be cheaper....HAHA!! WRONG! Actually i can't say that , because if you add up close to about $500,000.00 in medical bills from the MX thing , i guess this hobby is cheaper.....but not by much.

Well.....I'm only 8 months into this hobby , i'm knee deep into about 6 different airplanes , and now i'm veering into the heli's as well. In fact , i have my eye on a Hirobo EVO 50 right now , which hopefully if i can afford to fly both this summer , i will.

Man i love this hobby , and i love this site!

Also.....just to let you guys know , the reason i think i'm staying in this hobby is mainly because there are so many cool dudes that love to just have fun.......that's what it's all about right? In the MX thing , everything is so competitive. It's hard to have any real close freinds in that sport , ecspeacially if they are in your class.......sooner or later your going to get into some kind of contact with them on the track.......and then freindships start going down hill from there.

YES!....i want to fly heli's to......or anything else that has a motor and can get off the ground...HA!

Welcome aboard! Great choice on the evo. I'm a hirobo whore, I love the versatility and reliability of them. There is a lot of support between people you fly with in this hobby. Wait until your first good crash. People will almost send you sympathy cards. Just don't ever take yourself too serious and you will have a lot of fun for a long time.

I have second what Nitrohuffer said - he is a whore...
haha...just kidding!

What I mean is that the Evo 50 is a great choice, about the only thing you have to do to fly it hard is put some stiffer dampeners in the head and that is it! I fly the pants off of my sceadu 50, my buddies say I don't care what happens to it, lol! and the only thing I've ever had to change on it is the dampeners.

Planes are great, but you're gonna love heli's!

Jeffro503

Welcome to the money pit.
I assume you have joined a local club to fly in. These days most name brand 50 helis have matured to be trouble free. My suggestion is to see what local pros fly and stick to that. You will get help either way but little more close attention if you fly what they fly. You will get a lot of help here, too. But, if you fly the same thing, local pros just glancing over your heli might find a thing or two that need fixing. This will save you a crash or two.

Oh yeah! Unlike competition mx racing (which I know zero), you will get a lot of help and friendship, willingly.

Hey Jeffro - Glad you liked the pics! It is indeed the Freya X-Spec. It's configured a little differently now than in the pics, it used to have an OS91 C-Spec with a CY MPII pipe but I just recently switched it out to a YS 91 with a Hatori SB-16. The canopy was designed by me and my buddy, who also painted it. He's a professional who paints Nascar helmets and the like, and he did a fantastic job on it!

I'm glad I was able to indirectly persuade someone to join our heli ranks!

What he said! It's always a good idea to check out what the local guys are flying as you can't beat some actual hands on help if you get stuck with something. That being said, if you do fly something different they can still usually help you out or point you in the right direction.

I'm mostly a planker. I do have 3 shanks. 2 Hirobo Sceadu 50's and a TRex 450. Debating on down sizing the shanks to just 1. You can only fly 1 at a time!!!! As well as the planks, unless you have really talented toes!!!!

See if you can use that argument with your wife or girlfriend with her shoes collection.

Im a heli guy that got bit by the IMAC bug.
A friend of mine talked me into going to a IMAC event with him to be his caller and OUCH ! got bit.
Im a field rep for Gohbee Aviation and try to squeeze as much IMAC into the busy summer as I can. People see me at the field flying a Heli one minute and then a 35% Yak the next filght. I think flying both helps me be a better pilot.
