| ![]() Las Vegas Radio Control Club will be hosting the Mark McAlpine Memorial Rotary Classic on October 14 and 15, 2006. The main purpose of the event is to get together and have fun. The theme of the event will be a scale helicopter fun fly. However, it is anticipated that the event will be more of a fly in than a fun fly. We will have scale static judging, as well as an AMA Scale judging. However, the “formal” aspect will be limited and flying, whether in the air, or “hangar flying”, will be the purpose. An important aspect is to remember Mark McAlpine, a modeler with excellent skills and a friend to all. Please mark your calendars and plan on spending a marvelous weekend in Las Vegas. If you have any questions, please contact me. Nels |

Mark was a good friend of mine and a super scale builder. In 2003 at what was then the Southern Nevada Scale Rotory Classic, Mark beat me in AMA 518 scale by 1 point (out of 400). We both had a blast at that event and Mark turned in a perfect flight with his Dew Ranger. It was just a year ago on Tuesday that Mark lost his battle with cancer. I can think of no better way to honor Mark than to have all his friends show up at on October 14th & 15th. We have already made our reservations and we will be there to see all of our old friends and get in lots of flying for Mark. |

cspaced: not sure where you see the rr logo. i am not computer literate. i believe dan has explained what the event is about and why i am promoting it. this is an event that our club, alond with "the_dave", created about five years ago. we have always had a good time. this year's event is a tribute to mark mcalpine. nothing more. nothing less. any questions, let me know. nels |

my apologies to all. when i looked at the post, i saw my picture of mark and the dew ranger. i did not see the rr logo on this site. ironically, my picture no longer shows on the rr site and the only thing that shows is the rr logo. i have sent an email to mr. ryder to find out why he (1) does not let someone know that they will see the picture, but everyone else will see his logo; (2) why he did not request that i remove it; and (3) why he has removed the picture from his site and placed his logo on it. i understand these sites are business, but . . . . if the picture of mark is not showing, please let me know and i will remove it again. since the picture was uploaded to this site, it should be working. thank you for letting me know about the issue. since i did not see the logo, i had no idea it existed. regrettably, nels |

LOL!!! Don't sweat it guys, Nels, thanks for letting us know about this great event, and more over, the cause and for jumping into our new community. I'm in the game, and more than anyone, knows RR's game, and I own his playbook. He basically saw the photo you photo posted and hotlinked here, yanked it from the gallery on runryder.com, and replaced your photo with his logo. What a great tribute to a fallen comrade. Don't apologize Nels, it's par for course with this dude. Hey Ryder, love you buddy. We haven't even begun to spin HG up yet, and stuff like this really gets me motivated. Wait until you see what's coming next. -MD |

Nels, No problem... I thought at first you were trollin'.... I knew though that Mr R. has some less than desireable idiosyncracies, and I figured thats what happened. Glad to have you here... I may make a run out there for the overnighter, and get some coverage.... |

Toro, I will be there, if you make it look me up.I will have my yellow & red Bell 47 there for sure and my turbine. I told Max I would take my 20D and 100-400 lens and get lots of stills. It would be nice to get some video also. Hope to see you there! |
