Help! Heli Starters

I was wondering if anyone has any good ideas on a starter for a 90 class heli. I have a Sulivan high torque starter but it will not turn over the 90 without hooking it up to 24V. I have seen some people using the same starter with some batteries attached to the stater. Is there somewhere to by this attachment? Any help would be great.

Ive got one of the hydra tork starters from heliproz. Its 100 bucks and comes with batteries and a 1 way shaft... it has alot of juice. I could probably start my car with it.

I went the Dynatron on 12V, no dice, tried the dynatron on two 7 cell nicad packs (16.8V) still no dice, Dynatron on 24 Spins the motor at higher than idle speed with no problem.
Different engines are different there are a bunch of people in my club that tried telling me to get a new starter but their starters/batteries will not turn over my engine either.
With the dynatron on 24 V there is an issue with the contacts in the switch welding and not allowing the starter to turn off. If you are going to run the 24V have a plan ready for when the contacts weld.
The plan will have to include a way to shut off the starter, dealing with a heli that is running, and keeping the start shaft engaged in the heli if you are using the rubber cup to hold the start shaft.

I now just use my De-Walt 18V drill as a starter for my 90, it sounds terrible but works great.

I see a lot of folks this year using a 4 or 5 cell Lipoly.

I have never had issues with starting my 90 with 12V lawn mower battery but upgraded to a dual Nicad pack for convenience.

Now this is all I need to go fly Nitro.

I use the Sullivan Dynatron starter with two 7.2v nicad packs and a sullivan one way wand. I've had no problems turning over O.S. 91's and YS .91's.

If you can't turn over your engine with that then you probably shouldn't try until you take a look at why the engine is so tight. It could be that when you fueled it some of the fuel got into the crankcase and hydrolocked it?

Look in post 5 at CSpaced conectors. make shure you have good conections. To start a 90 I use a old junky sulivan but have good conectors to battery. Dont plug into a power panil with banna plugs, go directly to 12V lawn mower battery or get the 2 7.2v nicad packs. I dident like my hydra tork starters from heliproz. It spins slow and gears sounds like they are going explode. I think the Sullivan Dynatron starter with two 7.2v nicad packs is the best or the De-Walt 18V drill works just fine if you have one.

I use a torquemaster 180 on with 2 7.2v 3300nimh packs. Starts everyone's heli at the feild with no problem. It helps to use thick wire with deans ultra connectors and the like. Sometimes I can tell if my 50 is running until I take the starter off it spins so fast. The robbe start wand is bomb proof.

I had OS look at it at the OS booth at IRCHA last summer, and they told me that I have one of the rare engines that have a perfect tolerance stack-up. They told me that I will always cuss at it while starting, but will forget all about that when I need power. Whether this is true or not I am not sure. My fueling and start / shutdown procedures makes a flooded motor nearly impossible.

My Dynatron is getting quite old and tired and I was thinking of trying the Torque Master 180 with two 8.4V packs.
