Default Moving on up, to the 90 side. Got a deluxe apartment....

Raptor #2 was put on the chopping block last night. POOF! gone. I'm going to give teh stinger 90 a shot. It's no fury, 90se, or vibe, but it fits my budget. I always see people buying 90's and take a bath on them when they realize they are too much to handle. I figure I will fly the snot out of this one and if holds up great. If I don't dig it, then away to a new home. Big thanks to Jeeum for the cupleanos presente (new c-spec). I'll post some pics of the stinger. All metal for $499. Is it play doh metal? We shall see. Nothing ventured right?

I don't know. I'm beginning to like this stuff! I will never be an Alan Szabo, but I have only been doing the shank-bone since my wife bought a CX for me for Xmas and I was doing backward flight and piro-circles with it in less than 2 weeks. I just got a CP going 10 days ago and was hovering it nose-in within 3-4 packs. I have since reverted back to stick mode 4 since that mode 2 stuff isn't natural to me, even for helis, so I kinda had to start over. But I did that last Friday and I am already into forward flight with the CP and nose-in stuff...nothin special, but I origionally thought I would never pick this up, having flown only planes for the last 20 years...
Anyway, my understanding is that the 90 size stuff is just more expensive to buy and fix? I swore I would never go beyond this CP, but I may see a raptor 50 in my future...I know a couple guys at TT that can point me in the right direction

It doesn't seem to, for electrics at least. But I have yet to see anyone with rocket power like Szabo, Kraus, etc. For me to get a 50, though, I would definitely go top-of-the-line on the engine, maybe even up 10cc's if it can be done easily? That or go electric...the nice thing about that is you can gear it and mess with collective until you get the watts you are looking for and you are set.

Is the hyper 50 not enough a elevation? All the hypers I have seen dont slowdown at all at +12. You cant reall go above 1800 or so, you would probably have to run larger blades to extract the power from a 10cc. I just met a TT team member down here in Ar no less. Man that 90 looks nice all decked out. I had a Venture 30 for 3 years but thats still quite a jump. Helis are easier to hide though. Nick, were'nt you back there behind the shack when the tail let go on my concept 30.

Do a build thread on it so guys can see what's up when putting together a heli.

Andy. Yes, I think you let me attempt to fly it, too. The TT guy I know is named Gabe, or Gabel. He was a former hobby people guy, too!
Anyway, I am WAY down with a heli build thread here - particularly radio set-up, so git'er done!

as for the altitude problem, it is really not that big of a problem. I fly at 4985' and I have found that if you just use a little smoothness in your style, you can do just fine at the high altitude. it makes you a better pilot when you do go down to lower altitudes. autorotations are a little tricky as there is no air to get the rotor speed up for the flair. 50's and 90's are both great helis, I had 2 50's a Sceadu and a Raptor and liked the Raptor a little better. I also have a Vario X-perience which has a webra .91 and tuned pipe. but the best for high altitude flying is my dad's and my Jetcopter SX.

After going to the Vegas fun fly and seeing Steven Gerrard ring out my Raptor 50 and Danny Szabo, I won't be buying a 90 for a long time. These machines can do everything and then some.

Let us know how the 90 flies! Should be awesome.

Are you talking about the turbine powered heli? If so, do you know Larry Laughlin?
