| Victim ![]() ![]() | When learning to fly heli's the main goal is stability. Stability with heli's is more dependant on the flybar and paddles. Take the hirobo evo .50. With no wieghts in the flybar paddles it flips and rolls really fast, and that will get a beginner in trouble really fast too. But, add the weights that are included into the paddles and the heli is stable as rock in a hover and rolls sssslllllllooooooowwwww. To answer you question though longer blades do slow things up a bit also provided they are the same weight as the shorter ones.

| Fly it like you hate it! ![]() | I still have my radio questions. I need good info on what to set my pitch for normal flight mode. Also mode 1. Remember I'm new. Is there a way to test run the motor in the Heli with out taking it out. I think I know the answer. (no). Thanks for the comments it helps..... A LOT! |

| Sleepy's step and fetch ![]() | If your going to be learning 3D I reccomend hovering @ 3/4 stick for normal flight mode. The reason being is that this is where the heli will hover in idle up. on both positive and negative (upright, and inverted). normal mode should be pushing 1800 RPMS with about 6 degrees of positive and 4 or so of negative. You want to run as much as +10 at the high end of the stick in normal mode. +10 will probably bog your motor if you hang it @ 1800 on the high end, so it is important to put the throttle curve a little steeper as you approach top stick. +12/-12 is what I run in my idle up modes. 1 and 2 are almost identical. your idle up R's should be 2000 for 3D also run only carbons at this RPM, as woodies will explode under loads @ 2000 R's. As far as testing a motor in the heli without removing.... you guessed it.... NOPE... Just run it rich, and lean out as you go slowly for the first gallon. Eventually you'll be able to tell if your too rich or lean by the way it sounds, or the way the heli behaves when you punch the collective. If it bogs, your rich, if it goes like a bat out of hell with good smoke your just right, if it goes like a bat out of hell for a 100 feet than dies and has no smoke your too lean. Nitro is good, burn lots of nitro ! |

| Fly it like you hate it! ![]() | Thanks Toro, I've never flown a Nitro Heli. So I'm going to need a good normal setting. Plus I will set a an idle up mode. So if I have it right, I will be at 1800 rpm's with 6 degrees of positive. Now is this +6 at hover.. Seems high. |

| Bad-ass Super Contributer! ![]() | 66stang If you use sim like G3, It would be good to have them feel the same way. -4 on negative pitch is so you don't slam down the heli when you pull back the throttle. I would suggest you go +/- 10 on the pitch with zero at mid stick. You need to learn what mid stick should feel like. Next is throttle setting. You will need a optical tach though. Set the heli on the pad and run it up to mid stick (zero pitch). Set the mid point on throttle curve up or down to get your head speed at 1800 or whatever you prefer. Now hover it (should be around 3/4 or little less) and set the 3/4 point throttle curve so it maintains 1800. full stick throttle curve can be left at 100%.
