Default Got my first heli.... COOL

Well,
I just bought my first heli. It's the E-flight Blade CP.. Nice little copter. This is my first time flying a heli.. I have tried the sim. But it was a few months back. Man you have to be quick and steady on the sticks. I can't wait for the wind to die down, so I can take it out side. I had the copter 1 day and already went to the hobby shop to buy the motor upgrade and heat sink. Plus difrent blades. I wanted to use some of my Lipo's. So that's why I did a motor upgrade. The upgrade is a brushed can motor with different gearing. Here a Video.

I used to have that heli. Man the parts for that heli are so spendy. I didnt brake any parts off of that heli but my dad did, because we hovered it in the garage durring the entire winter and he kept on braking the blades from hitting it all over the place. My dad bought a trex and it flys easier and great and the parts are a lot cheaper.

My Friend has a trex (awesome machine) and I have a blade. We both are trying to get inverted flight down so we both crash allot. He does have a huge advantage in ability and Helli but, on hard crashes his cost allot more to fix than mine. I break the head and bend the main shaft so about $18 can. His is usually $50 - $60can. I am trying the carbon blades because they are supposed to take much more abuse. I'll let you know however.
I have:
changed the rx so I can use a computer radio.
gone to a brushless main (park 370)
removed flybar weights
Bell hiller upgrade (if you are getting into forward flight it is a must)
I have allot of fun but the tail and gyro is now the weak link. I think the last upgrade I am going to do is the double tail motor.

Trex is way better but in my limited opinion not really cheaper.

I don't know about the frame but everything is metal in the head except one peice. I am only saying this based on my experience which is limited at best. His crashes look more severe than mine. The t-rex is way better though.
The last crash he broke about 60 bucks worth of stuff and I broke $45.

For right now, I'm just happy with doing hovers. When the wind calmes down I will try some very basic flying. I have never had any experiance with a helocopter.. Any tips on how to get started. I just fired up G2 to start learning.

oh yea, thats a great heli to actually start flying with. You will be a much better heli pilot if you practice with the blade cp then later on you buy a trex or nitro heli because to be honest with you the cp is alot harder and unstable to fly then a bigger heli or trex. so i think you made a realy good choice on buying the cp to learn with. you will learn more about the parts and flying with helis with the cp than any other heli. Once you get on sticks on a nitro heli or a trex, you say PIECE OF CAKE! you will get hooked. belive me the cp will make a better heli pilot, and will get you realy ready for bigger helis. The only tips i have is that you keep on flying and hovering the cp. Heli's take alot more time for some people to get used to and it takes a lot of patients! just practice practice and mor practice and you will get better at it.

well, of course your comparing a bigger heli to smaller, electric to nitro.

no prob. just practice with vey little control movements. the more little you move and use the stick on aileron and elevator, the much more stable it will be. just very gentle on the sticks is all you need to control a heli.

Brian, your a HELI GUY now!?! whats this? ok, ok.....I'm a closet heli fan too
I just picked up the blade cp too! Quite a fun little machine, but theres definately some things
i want to upgrade. Very first of all will be the landing gear. I could fart on those tiny carbon
rods and break them! anybody know of a good blade cp landing gear upgrade??
I keep hearing more and more about these carbon blades, whats the scoop? where can I
find??
SOOO much fun though! i'm havin a blast with this little thing. today i was hovering it around
the shop at work.
