Default Wow, Big Heli's

Seen these heli's on a TV show. Don't know much about them but their trying to sell them to the Government equiped with spy cams. I know there the biggest Heli's i've seen for remote control and thought i'd pass it on.

yeah, the yamaha r-max is one hell of a machine. It made the international news a few months back...

one thing i never noticed before that i saw in those pics, was the shape of the main blades. Almost looks like fixed pitch blades, but i know it has collective.

one thing i noticed is that they will be illegal to use in the UK by the average Joe because of the over 24kg law.
I dont fly helicopters but I really want one, actually no, I want 2

Wonder what the price tag on one of those beasts is?

I don't recall the exact cost, but they are somewhere in the 100-200k range. As far as I know they are not available to the "public" and have autonomous software so they can spray rice fields in a pattern with no input.

Because of the physics and forces on certain parts on the heli. I am amazed myself that the main shaft on a hot .90 size heli can hold up to what it does. Look at it this way, all the changes in pitch and roll are generated by the main rotor. The main rotor connects to the rest of the heli with the main shaft, so all the forces needed to carry these changes in pitch and roll to the rest of the heli goes through this main shaft. Also, the gyroscopic forces become gigantic when the heli gets bigger. There are giant helis out there, but they are scale ships, here is a link to one big mo fo: http://www.pm-video.at/video/video.php

How big is big.
There are Gasser's out there that will do 3D and are bigger than a 90.
There are the turbines that are bigger yet, like the Bergen, and will still 3D.
