I have been a college professor for twenty years now, teaching manufacturing engineering. The most successful students I have seen are the ones who shared hobbies with their parents from a very young age. R/C, motorcycles, auto racing, hunting, etc.

I am working my A** off trying to stay ahead of him in heli. If I see him catching up, I'll break couple of his fingers to slow him down a bit.

Justin says I can't do the Tic Toc's as well as he does. Is it time to break his fingers? There simply is no respect.

Congrats proud papa!

My question is this....is he really a field rep?...is he able to help customers with their machines?...offer feedback to the company that is relevant to developing product?...I thinks its great that he can fly....but what else does he offer MA?....there are plenty of younger kids (not quite that young!)...that have tremendous flying skills...but really offer very little real PR exposure other than the age novelty.

It is brand recognition. You see talent like that, you get them on your team. We sponsor all kinds of "kids" that are skateboarders, snowboarders, etc that aren't half way to driving age and yet we (a car audio company) look for up and coming stars. That usually sticks with them and the other "kids" and grown ups alike see what they are flying and want the same thing. For us old dogs in our 20s and 30s with our slow reflexes, it is about PR at events

I had no idea what sponsorship meant. Just like most of you, I thought things were given to you. I found out it was not so. There are levels within the sponsorship program. As you rise, I've been told that your discount rate goes up. Only the top tier "Team Pilots" may get full (what most expect) sponsorship. Due to sponsorship contract, I can't discuss the specific rates but for most, you can equate sponsorship = discount.

I would have much preferred "level x" or "entry level" sponsored pilot. However, the entry level is called FieldRep at MA. I believe you can see that there could be some confusion and questions like above mentioned would pop up.

I also had no idea there were so much jealousy in our beloved hobby. This is a hobby isn't it? All we wanted to do is have fun in what we love.

I can hear and smell the jealousy in their voices. It is ugly.

At first it was more of a compliment when they did not believe a 3yr old can do that.

Now that has been proven, people come out with no 4 year old has the mental capacity to do that and be safe and 4 is 4 attitude.

Then came "pimping your kid for sponsorship". Yes I'm a proud dad. I wanted to share my greatest joy with fellow RCers. Does that make me a pimp?

And the final saga of jealousy, "In this day and age, due to sims, anyone with time and money can do that". Is there a need to knock a good thing?

I am tired. Although FG community has been exceptional, the rest of the forums have been disapointing to say the least.

This is all about fun. You can be the very best at flying RC models and still not make much money. You and your family are having fun. As long as you keep that in perspective you will always be winners in my book.

Most people are very impressed and happy for you and your son. Just keep in mind that a lot of forums are a place that a lot of insecure people love to hang out. They can criticize and pick at people while hiding behind their keyboard. I'd suggest you still post on all the forums to share your son's gift to those who will appreciate it and ignore the critics.

Keep posting about him. Those idiots that are knocking you are just jealous. They only wish they could shake a twig at him. Keep him flying. Love to see that little kid fly like that. Hopefully one day mine will turn out like that. Dont get to discouraged those that are knocking it are just ignorant!!!!!!
