I've been flying G3 rx's in my airplane for hundreds and hundreds of flights without a single glitch. All of the bad wrap the recievers get is most likely from noise inside the airframes. Several "reciever" issues have been cured by fixing the metal-to-metal contact and other noise issues inside the airframe. The G3 recievers are just more sensitive to outside rf than previous recievers. I too am looking forward to the 2.4ghz 6 channel system, which includes D/R, expo, etc... I'm looking forward to the system for my heli and electrics and possibly other smaller planes. My competition models will still be guided my the G3 recievers.

I guess I still don't understand, nothing is being replaced just the method of getting the info to the rx.

Yes, Futaba system , WILL NOT INTERFERE, with Spektrum. And Vice versa.

The only wild card in the 2.4ghz world, is and always will be , until we have some import control, the rouge wireless camera and other devices that operate on a wide rock bound single channel, ALA 2.4ghz Ham band cameras on EBAY.

The Amatuer radio portion of the band has been pirated by unscrupulous overseas companies that sell these products will nilly to any one who wants one...no license needed.

They bleed, cause spurious transmissions, and if they drift far enough and in the right place, can cause problems..in various conditions, in theory.

I have only seen one instance of this happening...at our golf dome. THe Pirate camera on 2.4g was getting wiped out by the Spektums ...but the Spektrums were seemingly unaffected.

Maybe someone who has installed a pirate camera AND a Spektrum on the same airplane can fill us in on the results....
My experience was much the same as you described. I tried a DX7 on one of my camera planes equipped with 2.4ghz video system. The ground range was reduced as the video transmitter was sitting on top of (touching) the main receiver. Even though range was reduced, it appeard that it would probably have been usable. Moving the video transmitter about 18 inches from the Spektrum receivers resolved the range problem. However, on the other end, the 2.4ghz video receiver was totally wiped out by the DX7 transmitter making the system useless.

Futaba must have spent considerable amount of resources on developing the G3 data encoding and the 5014 receiver. The G3 encoding pushes almost twice as much data through the same bandwidth as PCM1024, so there's no wonder it's more suspectible to interference.

All of that development goes out the window if you'd switch to 2.4GHz. Maybe they can solve that by selling a $500 2.4GHz receivers

And then you see that Futaba has a new 12 channel radio, the 12FG. It was also unveiled in Germany this week. No word whatsoever about when, or if, it is coming to the US, but it does take Futaba farther down the 2048 road.

Let me add that this is ALL I or anyone else, knows about this radio. We do not know its exact features, what it costs, when it will be released, what it weighs, how it feels, what it smells like and so on. ALL that is known is what you can see in the 2 photos.

I would be willing to bet that if you modded and used one of the FCC Type accepted color suveillence cameras, that theey would live happy together. As they would use the same GUID and freq sharing system mandated for type acceptance.

Worth a trip to the camera isle next time I am at a big box retailer.

I wonder why Futaba doesn't release the R5114DSP receiver in the USA ?

They seem to have pretty much acknowledged that the G3 has S/N problems. The 5114 takes the data rate down a bit in order to gain some reliability back.

I've seen too many helicopters go down running G3 within couple hundredth feet from the pilot to stay clear of it.

So - will the "limited data rate" receiver make it to US market anytime soon ????

I cant wait to see this radio in person
My 9c is 4 years old now and I was thinking its about time to replace it.
But money is short and I cant afford a 12mz, I think I can by another year with my 9c
and wait for the new futaba radio to prove its self in the field.

I think one of the previous post's was on track by saying Futaba has alot of money and development into the G3 technology Also saying that allowing all of their G3 radio systems to be converted to 2.4 ghz would throw that technology out the door because all the hype everyone has started deams the 2.4ghz technology superior to G3 when I'm sure Futaba, regardless of sales, disagrees.

I feel the 2.4 ghz technology will find it's way into more NEW Futaba products, not necessarily current ones. I would project to plan for the current G3 radio systems to remain that way. But I do predict a new line of 2.4ghz radios that customers can take their pick of, possibly systems with high channel numbers.
