Default New Forum! Spread Spectrum Technology and Products!

Hi Crew,

The advent and proliferation of Spread Spectrum technology is the biggest thing to hit the hobby in years, and we created this forum to discuss everything 2.4. Products, Spektrum, Futaba.. All of it. I've also moved most of the recent 2.4 topics into this forum aside from LeadingEdge Articles.

Post 'em here folks!

Best -- Max

Cool Re: New Forum! Spread Spectrum Technology and Products!

My favorite all time radio is the 12ch, Multiplex 4000. I'm hoping and waiting for someone to produce not just a 2.4 SS Tx module, but a 2.4 Rx with at least that many channels! Any news of any such on the horizon? I have been waiting for this technology to appear commercially and to mature enough so that it's useful for my turbine jet projects!

XPS has a modular system for the Multiplex 4000, and 12 channel receivers to match. One of the guys here in the area has one and loves it. They are hard to come by however as they sell out as fast as they come available.

I converted my mc4000 to 9 channel Spektrum operation. I love it.

Warm Regards,

I checked and they only have a 10ch Rx available. It sure would be nice if they did do a 12ch Rx!

JR/Spektrum does not recommend the AR6000 for anything but Park Flyers and they specifically exclude glow powered models as falling into the definition of Park Flyer.

Glow powered models, electrics larger than Park Flyer size, gas powered models, etc. should have a full range system. The DX7 is defined as a full range system (where the DX6 which was designed/released with the AR6000 rx is not) but for a six channel rx on your glow powered model, you should be using a full range rx with a satellite rx such as the AR6200.

i flew the DX6 on quite a few planes a couple of years ago. My EP Superstar which flies all over the field at the RAMS in sumner. Never had a loss of range. I would guess that there are many times I fly the Superstar well over 1000 ft away, and hav tested it with the Eagletree altimiter to 760 ft.

So is it a 6000 as stated in your original post, or a 6100 you mention here?

The 6100 is DSM2 technology which is better than the DSM1 used in the 6000, but it's still not recommended for your anticipated use...

I understand that funds can be tight, but this is a safety issue having to due with maintaining signal path diversity, not just an effort to extract more money from you.

Try soothing your conscience or paying for the damages when you lose control of your model and it hits something, or worse yet someone, with the fact that you ignored the manufacturer's recommendations for financial reasons.

Default Futaba vs. JR/Spektrum

Anyone have any real data comparing Futaba's FASST system vs. JR/Spektrum?
