Honestly, I don't have an answer for that Gareth. Might be a good topic of a seperate thread. You can also PM user "SpektrumRC" here on The Giants. The Horizon Support Team typically watch FG and try to answer questions when they can.

MadMax - thanks for your comments on the JR 10X Tx with the Spektrum 9ch module. I have one on order. I have been flying the Spektrum DX7 in my QQ 102" Yak. I have over 25 flights without a glitch. The response of the DX7 is very fast and locked on. When I fly the 10ch PCM Rx I end up using much less expo on aileron and elevator for a similar feel. Question - How does the JR 10X with the Spektrum 9ch module and Rx feel as compared to the original 10ch PCM Rx? I am trying to decide if I should set up another model with revised expo settings. Did you experience any subtrim changes? Also, have you used your Spektrum 9ch module with the R7000 Rx yet? I am convinced 2.4 Ghz technology is here to stay. Steve K |

I changed my GP Ultimate, AM Yak and Ultra RC Giles to the DX7 system, not one problem yet. My buddy is always getting little hits when he flies his plane at our field, I have not had one hit or glitch, I really like the system so far. |

just a quick note from Indonesia. tested JR module on my old 40 size trainer, 1 flight on saturday, very slow response, I felt something is not right The flight only lasted about 2 minutes. So I decided to pack and went home. that night I reroute the cable around the Rx and did JR modification as per XPS suggestion. tested again on Sunday, very good, good connection. and I did 2 flights. But I noticed that there is this "hole" that I got "hit" 2 times during my 2 flights. other than that,............. Very Happy. I also gave a Futaba module to my friend to be tested on Futaba 9C / 9Z and here is his report : Yesterday (saturday) I installed it in Futaba 9Z, do the binding and range check. The heli in Raptor 50 SE using 9252 servos, GY 401 & 9254 and Align 6A regulator connected with TP 730 mAh as a power source. The binding went succesfully and so did the range check. However, when I flew the heli I got several glitch (like temporary hit). Only to collective and rudder. I have tidyed the cable so none was touching the RX antenna. No other metal object near and touching the antenna. and on sunday, he tried again : Yes, all cables were more than 2 inches away from the antenna. I range checked with the prog button pushed and get 100m distance with good result. I am currious about the RX battery regulator. Today I try again with different heli. Sceadu 50, 9252 servos, GY 401 & 9254 and 4.8V Nicd battry. Guess what? No glitching, none for 5 flight. Solid control all around. But the battery consumption is a little bit more than standard Futaba 149 DP. TX is change from 9Z to 9C Super. Thanks and regards, Ferri Iriandi So Overall, we are quite happy, but of course with the additional antenna, I'm more confident to put it on my jets. but for now, I will just keep it only to my foamie or trainer... Thx & Brg, NICK - Indonesia |

OK...had my first experience flying 2.4Ghz this morning. I maidened an AJ Extra with a Futaba 6EX 2.4 radio and had no problems at all! The wind was blowing like crazy, so it was hard to tell if there was any difference in response. But then, I'm used to flyin a 14MZ and from what I've read, the 14 and the 6EX should have similar speeds. So far, I'm a happy camper! I'll wring it out some more this weekend when the wind dies down. |

One of the fields where we fly is among heavy power equipment running all day, and transmitting towers on one end. There have been several big "hits" at the field over the past few years. Since I have used the DX7 in over 150 flights with four 3D airplanes in the .40 to 1.20 range I have had no "hits" big or small. Two other folks who regularly fly there with DX7's also experience no problems to date.

My buddy Mark(Sired by Fire) has a new DX7 setup on his new AW 260. Had a chance to fly it. Overall I was very impressed, not a glitch in site and a solid radio. Although i have to say i didnt notice the added speed and i have no troubles with my 9c on old school frequency. Still the 2.4Ghz seems very promising and itll take a bit of getting used to no extending an antenna.

Here are a few pictures of the install of the XPS system in my planes. The profile is my "test bed." Hopefully I can fly it this weekend and report back to you guys on my thoughts on the system. Other guys have been using it with success.

went ahead and mounted my 10 channel RX in my gasser. Jim Drew recommends either mounting as high or as low as you can in the plane and away from any large metal objects or carbon fiber. Where I have now should work, but I emailed a pic to Jim to see what he says.
