hello boys,i got some news for all of you.i have had bad rf in the past couple of weeks.two planes completely not flyable due to radio interference.i found a new intelsat base behind my house about three miles away.they have a warning sign on the gate from the fcc about getting too close and the radio waves.anyway the guy inside comes on the speacker to see what the h$ll we want so i tell him about the rf on 72 mg.he jumps right in and tells me they have noticed a large jump in rf on the 72 mg band in the last couple of weeks but do not know where it is coming from(ye i bet on that one).any way he did say they think it is military based which means 72 is probaly on it's way to military use and we will loose that.i went to extremelink 2.4 and it cleared up everything and i can fly again---sorry about the long wind but i thought you guys should now about this.i am calling the ama and the fcc on monday about this

Here's what we found on the 40% WH Extra 300 with smartfly turbo reg and EQ10 on JR10X with spektrum module.

First, this plane has never flown on anything but spektrum. It orginally had all the same electronics but was flown with the DX-7.

Friday I came over to Warren's and took the DX-7 out. I bound the 9000 RX to the module. Everything was fine. When I started hooking up servo's we noticed that things were not quite matching up. No big surprise as the plane was on a different radio in the beginning. I had to reverse the throttle servo. We had to totally readjust the elevators and rudder with the EQ10. It was very simple with the EQ10 (now that I know how to use it). The wings were very close and only needed some tweaking.

The module comes with smartsafe or something like that.....basically failsafe is pre-set to where you have the throttle at bind and last known postion for the rest. You can change this if you want.

Saturday was test fly day! Well we got a really good range check then tried the failsafe. It went full throttle. Very confusing. This time we binded the RX again with everything hooked up. Again the failsafe went to full throttle. For the life of us we couldn't figure out why. Then I took the throttle channel and bypassed the EQ10 and plugged it straight into the RX. Re-bound and the throttle now went to idle........so the cause.........When using the EQ10 I guess the throttle setting is being noticed by the spektrum RX from the EQ10 and not the transmitter. We tried reversing the transmitter and it still went full throttle. I went into the EQ10 and reversed the throttle there and the problem was solved. (of course we had to reverse the radio now).

I hope that isn't too confusing......it was for me at the field. We rechecked all surfaces and everything was good.

Off it flew..........its got about 6 or 7 flights over the weekend by at least 3 different pilots. The plane is working flawless.

I also wanted to mention that we took the DX-7 satellite RX and plugged it into the 9000 RX. So it now has 2 satellite RX's. I put one low in the fuse on a former and one up high near the hatch. The main RX sits in the center of the fuse mid height.

I have been flying the DX7 since it was released and I have had nothing but perfect performance with it. I've had it in 5 different planes, it's obvious by now that the plane makes no difference.

I did have an interesting thing happen on my latest outing. It was in a new plane, 28% Sukhoi, that I was just flying for fun. The receiver had been used many times before.

When range checking I did that same thing I do with my 72mhz stuff, with the engine running I walked out 6 paces, which for my stubby legs is about 150 feet. With 72 mhz I do this with one antenne segment showing, with the DX7 I did it with the bind buttom pushed. In both cases I usually carry the transmitter in my hand so it is facing away from the plane. Engine was running at about half throttle, and the failsafe was set to go to idle.

To my surprise at about 50 paces the throttle went to idle, it had gone into failsafe.

When I turned around it came back to working, but when my body was between the transmitter and the receiver the signal was definitely obstructed. I retested it several times, same results.

So I read the instructions. It says to go out about half that distance and keep the transmitter pointed at the model. IN that mode it worked perfectly, and I flew the plane several flights with no problem at all.

There appears to be some truth to the rumor that a person walking in front of you while you are flying can block the signal.

Tom---

I've tested this extensivly with XPS and Spektrum......you have to be right infront of the person to have an effect. Put them at least a 72mhz antenna length away and there is no effect.

Besides......do you normally let anyone walk infront of you while you fly or land? I surely don't no matter what plane I'm flying!

35% Panzl with dual Spectrum recievers, 28% WH Extra V2, 99 Robin Hood, couple glow planes works great enough I sold my 9Z and all the pcm stuff.

just switching up to the AR9000 for the added slots/failsafe and remote recorder.

I found more out about the incident at the field I reported earlier. As the pilot was walking to the plane, the right Aileron was going nuts, so he decided that if he forced Failsafe, it "should" kill the motor. So he turned off the Transmitter, That is when the plane went to 1/2 throttle and ran into the fence. He did turn it back on, but as we know it takes a few seconds for the reciever to sync, and capture the signal. He has checked with Spektrum, and it is supposed to go to Idle. They had actually set it up for him a Joe Nall. It is not back for them to check, and reprogram.. So just to be safe, check your failsafe to make sure it is functioning correctly..
